Lancôme Teint Idole Silky Matte Liquid FoundationTo start, I wasn’t a fan of Lancôme’s Teint Idole Ultra 24Hr foundation at all. It didn’t last well on my skin, it didn’t seem give a nice shine-free finish, even the lightest shade was too dark for my skin, and in general it just really wasn’t for me. It was enough to actually put me off Lancôme foundations or cosmetics in general. With trepidation I’ve tried the new Lancôme Teint Idole Silky Matte liquid foundation and I’m actually far more impressed with this one.

This one is very silky and blends incredibly well. Definitely a fantastic start. It’s a really light foundation which is actually a little runny, but because of this it flows exceptionally well and evenly. The immediate effect is definitely matte and I really like that. As someone with greasy skin – especially around the T-zone – there’s nothing better than the sight of a matte nose and forehead and this one does that with very little effort. There are other matte foundations which give a more matte instant finish, such as Clarins Ever Matte foundation and Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free foundation, but this one still worked well and can be made even better with pressed powder on top.

As mentioned before, this foundation is incredibly light and it doesn’t cover every imperfection or mark, but I like this. I like having natural shadows and pink cheeks, and I like that my freckles aren’t completely covered. The only things I do mind about this foundation is the smell and the staying power. It smells a little powdery and I’d rather it wasn’t fragranced at all. It’s not overly strong but I’m not much of a fan. As for the staying power, the bottle claims that skin will remain matte for 18 hours. This simply isn’t true because after about 4 hours my nose became shiny and oily. Applying the Lancôme Teint Idole Silky Matte foundation again after my T-zone becomes oily does help mattify it again, but not as well as it does on clean skin. Pressed powder does help, but I’d expect more than the 4 hours.

A definite improvement of this foundation is that Lancôme have finally realised that pale-skinned people need foundation too and they’ve introduced a new ’010′ shade which is lighter and less orange than their ’1′ shade. It matched my skin really well and seemed to blend into my natural shade. It matches really well, and I like it as an ‘everyday’ kind of foundation. It’s fine for a day out where I’m not bothered about getting a shiny nose, but it’s great to reapply because it’s so easy to blend. I probably wouldn’t pay £26.00 for this though, so for the meantime I’m going to be naughty and stock up on free samples!
