KPA Holds Loyalty Meeting to Mark Sun’s Day

A loyalty meeting of Korean People’s Army [KPA] officers and service members was held at Ku’msusan Memorial Palace of the Sun in Pyongyang on April 11 (Monday) to commemorate Sun’s Day (the birth anniversary of late DPRK founder and president Kim Il Sung).  Attending the ceremony were members of the KPA high command including Vice Marshal Hwang Pyong So (Director of the KPA General Political Department), General Pak Yong Sik (Minister of the People’s Armed Forces), General Ri Myong Su (Chief of the KPA General Staff), Colonel-General So Hong Chan (1st Vice Minister of the People’s Armed Forces), along with KPA command staff and officers, and cadets from the DPRK’s military academies.

VMAR Hwang delivered a speech in which he said that the “President founded the immortal Chuch’e idea, So’ngun (military-first) idea and lead the two revolutionary wars and social revolution of various phases and socialist construction to victory, turning the DPRK into a powerful socialist nation, independent in politics, self-support in economy and reliant in defense” and that “Kim Jong Il (Kim Cho’ng-il) developed the DPRK into an invincible political and military power and a full-fledged nuclear weapons state with his energetic So’ngun (military-first) revolutionary leadership and ushered in a new era of posterity with his patriotic devotion.  Glorified forever will be the immortal feats performed by the Generalissimos by which they put the dignity of the party, state, army and people on the highest level and laid an eternal foundation for firmly guaranteeing the victorious advance and bright future of the revolutionary cause of Chuch’e while blazing a trail of the So’ngun (military-first) revolution.”

VMAR Hwang underscored in his remarks “the need to hold in high esteem the Generalissimos and accelerate the day of a final victory, true to the leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) with loyalty.”  After the speaking programs, KPA officers service members representing the ground, naval, air/anti-air commands, along with military academy cadets, marched through Ku’msusan plaza.

Meanwhile, on April 9, artillery units of KPA large combined units (taeyonhap pudae) #287 and 526 conducted a live fire anti-landing large calibre artillery drill.  Supervising the drill were Vice Marshal Hwang Pyong So and General Ri Myong Su which was attended by faculty of Kim Il Sung Military University and the Kim Il Sung Military Postgraduate Institute.  According to KCNA, “the live-shell firing drill demonstrated the invincibility of the strong revolutionary armed forces of Marshal Kim Jong Un to counter any provocation of the US imperialist aggressors and the south Korean puppet group of traitors with a prompt counter-action and react to their war of aggression with a great just war for national reunification. “
