Kitchen Bites #9: November Edition

By Thefoodiecoupleblog

We’re on the countdown to Christmas now and it’s been busy as ever in our kitchen! In November we tried out quite a few new products which I’m loving, and some really fantastic and beautiful looking cookbooks.

First up are these sauces from Yogiyo. Sue Youn, the founder, grew up learning the ropes of her mother’s restaurant on the South Korean east coast. She then met her husband Ben and headed the UK with their life savings and a bunch of home recipes in their pockets! They set up a  Korean kitchen which quickly became an instant hit on London’s street food scene.

The three sauces, one for dipping, one for cooking and the other a marinade really pack a flavor punch and my favorite is the Galbi marinade. The sauces are now available in Sainsburys.

Next up is a book called Wild Drinks and Cocktails by Emily Han. In this book  Craft drink expert Emily  teaches you the techniques you need to know to handcraft you own infused waters, syrups, vinegars, tonics, spirits, wines and sodas.

This book is a beautiful read, and full of things I’ve never heard of like Shrubs and Switchels. Emily makes them sound so appealing that I’ve already tried a few out including this Hawthorn and Rose Elixir.

Wild Drinks is published by Fair Winds Press and retails at £14.99.

New Amsterdam Vodka is a newbie on the UK alcohol scene, and is imported directly from the USA. I really like its clean flavour, making it possible to drink neat over ice as well as with mixers

This maple syrup from We Love Maple comes directly from Quebec in Canada.

It is an 100% natural product so has a low calorie count and us great for a sugar replacement. Its also high in antioxidants. It comes in a range of strengths from extra light to amber, and is perfectly for sweet and savoury cooking.

I love to use it for roasting root vegetables – this would be great for Christmas dinner!

Last up this month is the cutest and prettiest looking cookbook I’ve seen in a long time – Sallys Candy Addiction.

For those with a sweet tooth this is the perfect book, and would make a great present. It’s full of truffles, fudges and other sweet treats and the photography is stunning. I love the recipe for these Strawberry Buttercreams.
