Kitchen Bites #1

By Thefoodiecoupleblog

Nowadays there are quite a lot of new and interesting things that grace my kitchen, either in the form of  products for consideration of review, subscription boxes, new books, gadgets, and of course all the things I buy!

It sometimes gets a little difficult to write about them all individually (and sometimes there just aren’t enough days in the month!) so instead of this I thought I’d put together a little round up every couple of months or so to tell you all about them. So here we go, my first edition of my kitchen ‘bites’!

1.   Vita Coco

My frist dalliance with coconut water didn’t blow me away, but I must say I found these drinks from Vita Coco very refreshing. The peach and mango was a particular favourite, along with the lemonade!

2.   One-Pot Gourmet Gardener Cook Book

I’ll be reviewing this book soon over Fuss Free Flavours Blog – so watch out for this, but at first glance it looks like a beautiful book full of fantastic pics and step by step guides.

 3.   Auntie Frog’s Lime & Chilli Dressing from Scarlett Mustard

I love the Scarlett Mustard Range and this dressing is fantastic. I’ve used it on everything from salads, splashed over sautéed veg, to marinating meat and fish since I’ve had it. A really versatile thing to have in the fridge.

4.   Jack Daniels New BBQ sauces

The people over at Jack Daniels have created 2 new sauces – the Hot Pepper BBQ Sauce and the Habanero BBQ Sauce, both made with real Tennessee whiskey. The Hot Pepper Sauce is fantastic for marinading steaks and other meat – and will be especially fabulous for when we can get the BBQ out (hopefully soon!) The Jack Daniels website suggests adding the habanero BBQ sauce to stir fried chicken for a spicy test on fajitas – and I think this is a great idea and one which I will be trying soon!

They’ve got a stack of recipes on the website, good inspiration for all!

5.   Diana Henry –  A Change of Appetite

This book I picked up for a bargain price in TKMax. They often have some fantastic cook books at bargain basement prices so is well worth a look. I’ve been loving the recipes so far that I’ve tried – particularly the salmon with pickled veg pictured below. It’s a great book for healthy, eating well recipes.

6.   Cartwright & Butler Piccalilli

I loved the look of this Piccalilli when it arrived in my kitchen – I’m a sucker for a cute jar and packaging. The piccalilli looks really colourful with specks of red and green amongst the typical mustardy color and tastes lovely as well.

7.   Bayrische BBQUE sauce

This Bavarian BBQ sauce has hit shelves in the UK and this thing of beauty appeared in the March degustabox. I’ve not tried it yet, but it looks like a beast! Bring on the summer!

Disclosure: Some of the products featured have been gifted to me for consideration of review, so thanks to those brands, others are purchased by my own fair hand. Views on both, as always are my own.
