KISS Review: Lakme Absolute Matte Lipstick Brilliant Kiss

By Rashi Ravi Ganguly @sincerelylazy
KISS: Keep it short and sweet! A new series on this blog that is perfectly in sync with me and my Lazybirdie persona. Hopefully it'll also be helpful for those of you who, like me, are almost always in a rush and don't really have the time/energy/inclination for long-winded ramblings of detailed reviews. KISS impressions will be handy in letting you decide in a jiffy whether a product is well-worth a second look and/or purchase or not, so without further ado here's my first KISS :p - Lakme Absolute Matte Lipstick in Brilliant Kiss.
KISS Review: Lakme Absolute Matte Lipstick Brilliant Kiss
  • Price: INR 375/- (Now increased to Rs.500/-).
  • Shade: Deep pinky plum.
  • Texture: Soft, creamy, light.
  • Finish: Matte, with a very slight sheen.
  • Feel: Comfortable, but not hydrating.
  • Transfer: Minimal, once it sets (2 minutes post application).
  • Feathering/Bleeding: No.
What I Like:
  • It doesn't wash me out, unlike other purples.
  • Doesn't dry out my lips.
  • The shade- it's vampy yet suitable for daytime wear.
  • Makes a sophisticated office-wear lipstick, paired with black liner.
  • Goes from day-to-night easily.
  • Lasts a solid 4+ hours on me with mild eating and drinking.
  • Affordable.
What I hate:
  • The pigment is not packed well, so 4-5 swipes needed to get the true-to-bullet shade.
  • Application is not effortless, can get patchy if you rub your lips together immediately.
To Sum Up:
For the price, and the shade, and the fact that there's absolutely minimal transfer after setting (better than some MAC mattes I own!) and no drying of my lips, I'm willing to put in some extra effort for even application. So, to KISS, Lakme Absolute Matte Lipstick Brilliant Kiss is A WINNER in my books!I'm wearing it here.
Hope this helped. Would you like more such KISSes?! Let me know in the comments. :)
