DPRK state media reported on 2 August (Friday) that Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) attended a commemorative photo-op with veteran of the Fatherland Liberation War (Korean War) and Korean People’s Army [KPA] commanding officers who participated in the anniversary military parade and demonstration on 27 July.  Attending the photo-op were VMar Choe Ryong Hae (Director of the KPA General Political Department), Col. Gen. Jang Jong Nam (Minister of the People’s Armed Forces), Col. Gen. Ri Yong Gil (Chief of the KPA General Staff Operations Bureau), Mun Kyong Dok (Chief Secretary of the Pyongyang City Korean Workers’ Party [KWP] Committee) and Col. Gen. O Il Jong (Director of the KWP Military Affairs Department).

According to KCNA, Kim Jong Un “warmly congratulated the war veterans and commanding officers on their contribution to glorifying the immortal exploits Generalissimo Kim Il Sung (Kim Il-so’ng)  performed by leading the war to victory and feats Generalissimo Kim Jong Il (Kim Cho’ng-il) performed by steering the Military-First (So’ngun) revolution to victory by taking part in the military parade” and said  ”they fully demonstrated the spirit of Military-First (So’ngun) Korea winning shining victories in the struggle for national reunification and building a thriving socialist nation and great national power through the military parade.”  Kim Jong Un posed for commemorative photographs with the veterans and parade participants “expressing belief that they would add glory to the proud history of victory in the war by wining a fresh victory in the struggle for defending socialism and building a thriving nation in the same heroic fighting spirit as displayed in the 1950s.”
