Keep It Fashionable, Keep It Timeless

Keep it fashionable, keep it timeless

If you’re a keen follower of fashion, you’ll understand that trends move quicker than even computer upgrades. Just as you’ve got your latest summer outfit perfected, it’s time to celebrate the first falling of the leaves with a brand-new wardrobe.

It’s all a bit knackering really, on your fashion taste and your credit card. Keeping a first class ticket on the fashion train drains your wallet quicker than a 2006 Ponzi scheme run by a moustachioed, cackling super-villain.

But what if you could turn the fashion tide your way, and figure out how to stay timeless in your style? Have a look at these tips and you’ll find out exactly that.

Keep it light!

Keep it light!

Keep it natural

Did you know that the amount of bright orange foundation used by women  could viably create an entire new Earth’s crust if spread over the globe? No? That’s probably because it’s completely made-up, but it does illustrate one important point – people plaster themselves in far too much makeup.

Certain cosmetics can turn their wearers into something resembling an Oompa Loompa, which is why you want a lighter, more natural brand of foundation. Mineral make up is the ideal alternative, adding a healthy glow to your skin, rather than a Technicolor hue.

Keep it healthy

Fashion trends may come and go, but effective health remains the cornerstone to looking good. If you can maintain a healthy diet unburdened by the blights of alcohol, junk food and fizzy drinks, you’ll gain the good looks to go hand-in-hand with a healthy lifestyle.

Try to make you diet calorific (that’s a controlled diet containing your exact daily recommended intake of calories) by concocting some healthy meals and lifestyles. Couple this with regular exercise at the gym and you’ll have the type of health that will make any clothing look great.

Keep it understated

Have a gander at those old classics, the Marilyn Monroes and Elizabeth Taylors of this world. What have they got in common? Besides looking absolutely gorgeous, they managed to make their style seem effortless, using a series of simple blacks and whites and offsetting them with splashes of primary colours and their own personal flair.

You might want to consider taking a leaf out of their book. Minimalist styles will always stay in fashion, whereas the occasionally garish overstatement that hits the catwalks of Paris, Rome and London will be flashes in the pan come next year.

Keep it personal

Personal touches have always been the bread and butter of fashion designers, creating those flashes of inspiration that makes the world of style and makeup so exciting. Again, take a leaf out of their book.

You might never be Vivienne Westwood, Jean Paul Gautier or Yves Saint Laurent, but you can create a style that is intrinsically personal by altering high street clothes or knocking something up yourself. After all, what’s the point of fashion if it doesn’t represent you?
