Kardashian Beauty No Apologizes Face Kit in Werk It Review and Swatches

By Kwilliford @ExquisiteEczema
It actually killed my soul to type out"werk" but it is okay. When it comes to the Kardashians, you have three groups of people: those who hate them more than anything on the planet (which is stupid to me), those who are obsessed with them, and then people like me who are just neutral. I don't love them, but they haven't done anything to me, so I don't hate them, either. Regardless of that, I was pretty curious about some of their newly released products. Especially the face kits, which come with eight eyeshadows, a blush, and a highlighter.  The No Apologizes Face Kits come in three different options. Werk It is the neutral, most wearable that the majority of people will likely gravitate towards. If you are interested in this, I would recommend skipping it. I'll get into all of the details below, starting with the eyeshadows.

These face kits come with eight shadows that are divided up into two quads: one for daytime and one for night. In Werk It, the daytime quad is more bronze and the nighttime is gray and smokey. This isn't an all in one palette, meaning that I had to use other shadows in conjunction with them. There isn't a matte base shade and it also lacks a good, matte transition shade. The only matte shades are the black and taupe-grey. The quality is very hit and miss. The metallics are pretty good, but nothing amazing. The mattes are awful: patchy, poor pigment, hard to blend. The satin shades are just okay. Texture wise, they are very soft and buttery. However, they kick up a ton of product in the pan and I have experience fallout. The staying power is good when worn with a primer. They didn't crease or fade.

In addition to the eyeshadows, the palette also comes with a blush and highlighter. The shade of the blush is stunning. It is a matte peachy rose color, but the quality is awful. It is a nightmare to apply and work with. The pigment is amazing, but that makes it difficult to work with. You have to use an extremely light hand. It is also very patchy and it looks very uneven. It is challenging to blend out, so you end up looking like you have no idea how to apply blush. It isn't cute. The highlighter works great as an eyeshadow (better than the actual shadows in this palette), but it makes for a horrible face product. Again, the color payoff is great. So much so that it is difficult to use on the cheeks. The texture is also a problem for using on the face. It is so densely packed, that a brush won't pick up any product. I have't experienced anything like that. It swatches very intensely, but nothing comes off on any of my brushes. If you like subtle highlights, you might like it. I like something you can actually see. As an eyeshadow, it is pretty as long as you use a finger to apply it. It is a gold highlighter, so it is better suited for warmer skin tones.

You can see how difficult it is to get the blush to blend out. It is even more challenging on the face. The highlighter does blend well as long as you are not using a brush.
Even though this kit has quite a few issues, I have gotten some really nice looks out of it. It just took  a lot of work. Hey, maybe that is why that called it "Werk It." Ha.
I did take pictures of one of the looks I created, which was a very soft, gray toned smoky eye. I also used the Kardashian Beauty Lip Slayer Lipstick in Independent, which is stunning and the formula is amazing.

The Kardashain Beauty No Apologizes Face Kits are $16.99 and they are available at Ulta. I just looked on Ulta's site and Werk It is even available. It doesn't even say out of stock..it is just gone. I don't know what is going on with that, but you aren't missing out on anything. But that lipstick is pretty nice, but that is a review for a later date.
See you soon!
