So, it's mid-July. Time for the June Beauty Box Five reveal...just a little overdue! :) I haven't received July's box yet, so it's not too late, right? ;) I'll preface this with my opinion for a change. I was a little disappointed with this month's...well, June's...box. It's not terrible by any means, just a little disappointing to me and one thing is getting highly repetitive! If you're interested in Beauty Box Five, you can sign up to receive your own monthly box here. So, on to the goods.... :)
Ahhh, Aveeno. I believe you are not really cruelty-free (don't hold me to that, because I'm not 100% sure - they are owned by Johnson & Johnson who is not cruelty-free), so this first sample is useless to me in that regard. It sounds lovely though! :) It is the Aveeno Active Naturals Protect + Hydrate Lotion Sunscreen. It is an oil-free sunscreen and lotion in one. It has a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with SPF 30 that is sweat and water resistant for a minimum of 80 minutes. Sounds nice, I just tend to avoid Aveeno products because I'm unsure of their cruelty-free status. It's a decent sized sample tube (0.5oz/14g). It's not massive, but not mini either. There is also a $1.00 off coupon for this product included in the box.
Next is a Shampoo and Conditioner! I really appreciate that they've included both. It's always kind of strange to me to receive one without the other. That's not to say I always use a matching shampoo and conditioner, but it's nice to initially be able to try the pair together. So, we have the Cool Cleanse Shampoo & the Cool Hydrate Conditioner from Coolway. They are color-safe and sulfate, paraben and phthalate free. It smells delicious - a bit like tropical fruits! Yum!!! :) Each full size retails for $25, so it's not cheap, but it will be nice to try! There's a coupon code for CoolwayHair.com that I would share, but it already expired. :/
The next item, I have no use for because I do not self tan - I try not to tan in any way, shape or form. Not that there's anything wrong with tanning, I just prefer my natural skin tone. Anyway, the next item is the Just Being Sexy Body Bronzer. There are two foil packets! Grrr!!! We all know that I hate foil packets. There are two of them and they are relatively large packets, but they are still hard to use and I feel like they won't go very far if you're trying to bronze your entire body. Now that my rant is over, it says "No Animal Testing," it claims it will not stain clothing and washes out (of what, I'm unclear), and it is paraben free. It can be used on both face and body, and it claims to be ani-aging. Interesting claim in a body bronzer, no?! It has a "pearlescent sheen finish," which could be nice or it could be horrible. Not sure where I fall on that one! Again, it seems pricey to me at $49 for 6 fl oz, but then I really have no idea what a good self-tanner costs. I'm sure this is lovely, and maybe I'll test it out just for fun some day, but I really have no interest in bronzers / self tanners. And they're foil packets! Grrr! :)
Finally, an item I have seen in, I believe, every Beauty Box Five I have received. I have to admit that I haven't tried any of them yet because I keep forgetting about them. It is another Organic Mineral Eye Shadow from Brazen Cosmetics. This shade is pretty and great for every day. It is in the color "Commando," which is kind of a pinkish flesh tone matte with sparkle - if that makes sense! :) There's not really any shimmer to the color, but there are some definite glittery sparkles in it, albeit subtle ones. I feel like the color on my eyelids would look kind of like an evened out skin tone that has a subtle flash of sparkle. I think it would create kind of a cool effect that's not over-the-top or in your face, so I'm happy with the color, but sick of seeing these over and over again in the boxes! :)
That's it for June's Beauty Box Five! Like I said, I was a little disappointed with June. With the repetitive eyeshadow, the foil packets of self tanner and the Aveeno non-cruelty-free issue, there's not much left! However, I really love the smell of the Coolway Shampoo & Conditioner, so I need to get cracking and try them out! :) Should you be interested in receiving your own boxes from Beauty Box Five, it costs $12/month for a 1 month recurring subscription (cancelable at any time). There are a few other options that discount each box a bit if you're willing to pay for multiple months at a time. They are currently working on their website, but you can still sign up for the box here.
Hope you enjoyed peering into June's box with me! Leave a comment letting me know what you think of this subscription box, and if there are any that you absolutely love that I should check out! I always love to hear your thoughts!!! :) Until next month...well, the next box...thanks for stopping by!!! :)
