Jillian O may be young, be she’s ready for the big-time

As she builds a strong web presence, the singer is working her way up and getting her name out there.

Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Jillian O spent the first decade of her life developing her passion for music. Given that she’s only 13 years old, that’s saying something! With her family and friends behind her, the young singer-songwriter is pursuing her musical dreams full-time.

Forgoing regular schooling, Jillian is home schooled. An option typical of young performers, home schooling allows her to work on her schoolwork online; one day she’ll be at home studying, and the next day she’s working online from Nashville. That doesn’t mean she’s not faced with the same issues as other students her age, however.

“At times it can be very hard to balance music and school,” said Jillian in a recent interview with Candor. “Finding time to rehearse and study can be super difficult.”

All the same, Jillian works to maintain straight A’s, as well as a social life. Though middle school drama is unavoidable, Jillian says her friends are always there for her.

Inspired heavily by Hayley Williams of Paramore, Jillian is always working on her songwriting technique. Using her own experiences as a reference, Jillian also wants to captivate an older audience.

“I want people of all ages to be able to relate to my songs,” said Jillian. “I try to put in some things everyone can relate to.”

After working with producer Keith Follese (Tim McGraw, Martina McBride), Jillian has quite a few songs ready for her fans. She even has a music video for her song “Push Me,” which is featured on the Kidz Bop website.

“I think it’s awesome to be a part of [Kidz Bop],” said Jillian. “The whole crew for the video was great, and I had a ton of fun!”

If you’re in the Atlanta area, you can catch Jillian O at the Taste of the Trucks Festival on Saturday, September 15.
