It Begins! Congressman Calls For Martial Law - Video
Georgia Representative John Lewis (D) has called on Barack Obama to declare martial law in Ferguson, MO. , the site of massive protests after police shot and killed an 18 year old by the name of Michael Brown. Protesters and police have clashed since Saturday night when the incident occurred, with images, videos and reports of police tear-gassing unarmed protesters, arresting reporters, and marching through the streets in a manner that has many questioning the militarization of local and state police forces.
In the video below Lewis tells MSNBC "People have a right to protest. They have a right to dissent. They have a right to march in an orderly, peaceful, non-violent fashion. And the press has a right to cover it. Ferguson, Mo. is not the Congo. It is not China. It is not Russia. We can do better."
"President Obama should use the authority of his office to declare martial law," he continued. “Federalize the Missouri National Guard to protect people as they protest."
This is how it begins, with calls for martial law to be implemented within American borders, under the guise of protecting the "people."
