Is The 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target Line Really a Flop?!

Despite what seems to be complete madness rivaling the Missoni for Target launch, do eBay sales indicate that people aren’t as interested in the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target line as everyone originally thought?  Where is this coming from, you say?  Well, you know what I experienced.  I know that ever tote, purse and accessory is sold out.  Plenty of people are upset that they didn’t get anything.  It’s logical that they might turn to eBay to get what they couldn’t grab amidst the mayhem at the stores.  But, what I see is that the yellow mini satchel with gusset and yellow top handle tote are the only ones selling quickly and with any amount of additional value than the original price tag.  Right now, there are nearly 7,500 items of Phillip Lim for Target on eBay and while most of the bags do have bids, I don’t see very many people willing to pay more than double the original price tag.  This could be for one of several reasons or a combination of the following:

1.  Few people grabbed as much as they could in stores or bought as much as they could online only to artificially inflate the actual interest in the items.  Some individuals approach all popular designer Target launches as an opportunity to make money online, not because they might actually want the items.

2. People are taking an ultimate stand against the hoarders and those who grabbed items out of other people’s hands, throwing it in their already full carts, only to turn around and try to sell everything on eBay for $150 a piece.

3. After the dust, price tags and fake leather smell settled, people just weren’t that impressed with the quality of the items, thus, they aren’t buying them for that much online as originally anticipated.

4. Another random reason?

What do you think.  Did you buy anything and return it because it just wasn’t even worth the inexpensive price tag to you?  Did you buy anything online that you didn’t get?  Do you plan to?  What amount will you spend?  What is your limit?  How bad do you think people really want this stuff after all is said and done?
