IPG Media Lab Calls 2013 "The Year Of Anticipation"

Posted on the 18 January 2013 by Expectlabs @ExpectLabs

IPG Media Lab just published their 2013 Outlook report, which is a snapshot of what they are looking forward to in the coming year. With the goal of putting new technology in the hands of marketers, IPG Media Lab acts as a think tank that researches emerging technologies that have the potential to transform consumer behavior. The Media Lab is calling 2013 “the year of anticipation and refinement,” and we’re excited that Anticipatory Computing is an integral part of their trends forecast. Read more from our founder:

“Anticipatory means listening and delivering information before you ask for it. The next generation of computing platforms we use, whether they be smartphone, tablets, or something built into our glasses or our wall, will all have the technical ability to access lots or rich streams of information, and will be listening in the background as you do other things. The way we find information right now could and should be dramatically improved.”      -Tim Tuttle, Expect Labs CEO

IPG Media Lab envisions a future where Anticipatory Computing will be integrated into applications that simplify people’s lives through the act of real-time information retrieval. The report also predicts that along with intelligent assistants, natural user interfaces and big data will be used to create this new class of applications that will have the power to “anticipate our future needs better than we can.” We can’t wait for what this “year of Anticipation” will bring.
