Indo-Pak World Cup semi final 2011 was fixed: British Journalist
A British investigative journalist has reveled that the high-voltage Pakistan-India Semi final in World Cup 2011 was fixed.
Ed Hawkins, an investigative sports journalist, made the claim in his upcoming book ‘Bookie Gambler Fixer Spy: Journey to the corrupt heart of cricket’s underworld.’
A British newspaper Daily Mail published the excerpts of the book, which will be published on November 15.
According to Hawkins, the bookie had a contract with Pakistan which envisaged that the term will lose match by 29 runs. However, the bottom-line was slightly different as the men in green lost by 20 runs.
Hawkins further noted that bookie had said batting first India will score 260 runs and their three wickets will fell inside 15 overs, while Pakistan will gallop to 100 runs before losing two wickets in quick succession. At 150 they will be 5 down.
Hawkins also claimed that Bollywood actresses were used as a honeytrap in the fixing process.
In response to the fresh fixing claims a spokesperson of International Cricket Council (ICC) said that they have cleared the 2011 World Cup semi final and they did not believe on media gossips.
Last year three Pakistan players Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir – were jailed in Britain for spot-fixing in Lords Test against England in 2010.
