McClure’s Orchard in Peru, Indiana is family owned and family ran.

Although there’s a lot to do at this Indiana apple orchard, little Indiana had one thing on her mind: Indiana wine!

I’ve had a sampling of McClure’s Hard Apple Cider back in April. The memory has stayed with me!

We were done filming the pilot episode pitch for the day and decided to check out the First Friday fun at Dorothy Ilene’s Gallery in Wabash, Indiana.

At this awesome event we actually met the owners of McClure’s Orchard. What super nice people! So down to earth and, well, passing out free wine hard cider doesn’t hurt my assessment of them either.

Joking aside, it is a family run business on all sides. From the barn to the Apple Dumpling Restaurant to the wine tasting counter, there’s McClure’s here, there, and everywhere!

The elder McClure’s happened upon an overgrown orchard in this small Indiana town. With sixty acres spanning before them, only one tree bore fruit! Even so, the family pitched in and turned it into the gleaming, gorgeous, and great mom and pop it is today.

The Apple Dumpling Inn is a great place for cute home decor! Appealingly arranged, we browsed for quite a bit before making our way to the star of the room: the wine tasting counter!

There are sixteen varieties of hard cider to choose from as well as almost a dozen wines all made from fruits and veggies of the farm! With flavors like Grandpa’s Bourbon Barrel Aged to Country Cottage and Fireball, it was hard to know where to begin.

Hubs opted for Jalapeno Hard Cider. Given his usual eye-watering, mouth burning reaction to jalapenos, I was surprised that he liked it! It’s certainly different. But Bon Bon…well, that completely won me over! We even brought home a bottle–or two.

As great an Indiana winery as this is, you’ll be glad to know that they’ve been recognized for their efforts! McClure’s Orchard has snagged a few medals for several hard ciders and wines.

Take in that fresh country air in lovely surroundings. McClure’s Orchard in Miami County would be a delightful place to spend your day!
