In Your Wardrobe: Neutral Red

By Linsibrownson @CleverSpark

Often when we think of “neutrals,” the following colors come to mind …

Beige. Tan. Ivory. Black. Gray. Cream. Taupe. White.

Blah. Blah. Blah.

Most of the above “neutrals” aren’t actually colors, and the others are just versions of yellow. Of course it’s important to have these classic neutrals in your wardrobe, but you don’t want every outfit to be safe beige. To create a wardrobe with depth, you need to also incorporate neutral versions of actual colors.

A classic and rich color which is trending right now is “oxblood.” Just like the name implies, if you were to imagine the blood of a grisly work animal, this is what color it might be. And to say it’s “trending” is kind of misleading; the same color comes about every year, with just a bit of variance in the hue each time.

In other words, it’s a classic.

Here are a few of my favorites from this season in oxblood.
