Monday is mute
on the London Walks
Blog (well, almost mute) – because Monday is the day when we post
five images captured in and around London by London Walks Guides, London
Walkers and Facebook friends. Collated on a theme or an area, if you've got
some great shots of our capital and want to join in send your pictures to the usual
address.
Today’s shots have been sent in by London Walker
David Moore (David joined us for the first time earlier this month on the Rock’n’Roll London Pub walk). This weekend he
joined thousands of Londoners in the popular Open House Weekend. His destination
was Battersea, for one last look around the world famous power station before
it is redeveloped. The queue was so long that many were turned away, but David
was one of the lucky few. Here are some of his photos. Thanks David!
David adds… “Apparently, there is great
suspicion that the chimneys won't be re-erected once taken down [Battersea Power
Station is being redeveloped], contrary to the deal that has been struck with
the developers. Personally, I'll miss not just the chimneys, but the space, the
brick, the scale, the vista and the lump in my throat I get every day when I
cross the river coming into Battersea Park station.”
Us too, David, beautifully put. Thanks again for sharing the pics.
You can follow this story in the Wandsworth Guardian HERE.
And there is also an e-petition in place to help raise awareness of this issue.
