Impotence of Practicing Prenatal Yoga During Pregnancy Pregnancy in the life of a every married woman is an exciting experience of becoming the fulfilment of long desired motherhood. In this period we all try to stay healthy and fit. When I was 4 months pregnant, my doctor advised me to join an ANC classes (Antenatal Classes). According to the doctor's advice, I have started ANC classes within a week. In those days I used to follow Celeb's moms YouTube channels very much especially I followed Lara Dutta. I think this trend of Practicing Yoga during Pregnancy gaining its popularity day by day. For this popularity, I definitely want to give credit to these celeb moms.

I used to follow one thing from my childhood that right after having a meal I sit on vajrasana. Vajrasana is the only pose that can be done on a full stomach. Even I did this Vajrasana during the Pregnancy. However, I got to learn a lot more new things from yoga classes.

Prenatal Yoga for Pregnancy is a gentle practice or it's kind of a yoga with exercises modified for pregnant women which give pleasure to would be moms. In a yoga class, you will learn techniques breathing, postures, relaxation, and visualization to help you throughout pregnancy. During pregnancy, our body and mind gone through many changes. Yoga is a method that helps keep body and mind healthy. But it is also true that we will not get benefits of yoga within a day. It requires daily practice, concentration, and patience for a good result. Let me also share my personal experience with you how Prenatal Yoga helps me during my pregnancy. Along with Yoga, I learned meditation and pranayama (yoga breathing), which are two very important aspects of yoga practice. Only practicing physical yoga without pranayama and meditation will not be fruitful for would be moms.

  • Back and hip pain during pregnancy is a common thing. As I told before that I am practicing Vajrasana since my childhood and for this, I have not had any kind of back and hip pain during pregnancy and after delivery. Vajrasana helps to strengthen the pelvic muscles too. Apart from this, some yoga poses to stretch and strengthen the muscles and tissues associated with the lower back, hips, and hamstrings. A relaxed body aids in proper digestion and helps in building the immune system.
  • Pregnancy is not an illness. But I have noticed that some of the women really feeling like they are sick. But I don't deny this word at all. Those who go through this phase they could understand the 'morning sickness'. During pregnancy lethargy and fatigue also commonly seen. Yoga can help you to break this sick feeling, keeps you active and energetic.
  • Usually, due to stress and anxiety, hormonal physical changes have an effect on our good night's sleep. I used to meditate for 10 minutes just before going to sleep at night. Meditation helps me a lot to calm the mind, reduce anxiety and anger and helps to eliminate stress.
  • To be honest, yoga prepares you mentally and physically for childbirth. It helps the sense of courage, confidence, patience, and determination within you.
  • It's very commonly said by people that those who have C-section they have lost their body shape. No, that not true. C-sections take more from your body than uncomplicated vaginal deliveries because you have a major surgery to recover from. But good eating,  balanced lifestyle, with muscle work like light exercise and yoga, will be able to reach your goal. So be physically fit, by doing yoga before and after delivery.
  • You may have heard about this or may be not that yoga can prevent the appearance of stretch marks which I personally felt. I don't have single lines of stretch marks. I religiously followed yoga during the entire pregnancy which helps in avoiding the extraordinary weight gain, especially on arms and thighs. It really helps to toned muscles prevent the formation of stretch marks.

As a result of yoga practice, I realized that just after the delivery though it was not vaginal delivery, right 7 to 10 days after the baby birth I was back in action with full energy. I never felt that surgery had happened. Hence, I would say, to start prenatal yoga as soon as possible. But one thing must be kept in mind that before you start yoga classes, consult your doctor. So get a green signal from your doctor and you get started. Also, show your complete medical history to your instructor so that he or she can start teaching yoga accordingly. This blog is a part of a blog Marathon written on several topics pertaining to Women Health & Wellness.
