Hi folks!!!Friday at last!!! Who understands how that feels? The idea of sleeping in till 9:00am or just being plain selfish and making your wakeup time 11:00am on a Saturday morning as against your usual 4:30am wakeup time on weekdays...oh what bliss!!!
I can honestly say I live for Saturday mornings, however there are some Saturdays I have to wake up relatively early, one of such being tomorrow seeing as I have to attend a Meetup tomorrow at the CAG bloggers forum. I'll share details during the week on how that goes and on any other crazy shenanigans I get into during the weekend. I woke up super early this morning so I could get this out of the way before getting prepped for work so I'm going to get right to it.
Today's menswear inspired outfit is yet another number from JeffUrban Clothing. I've not owned a more traditional outfit in a really long time so I opted for one of JeffUrban's legendary Danshiki pieces. If only I were a boy I would rock comfy two-pieces like this every other day but honestly where was it ever written that I have to be of the male species to be comfortable in my own skin?
"l am a girl so I should stick to more girly things" ...said no one ever. I'm the kind of person who refuses to conform to the regular stereotype, I refuse to be held within a box constantly thinking of what is expected and required of me and not discovering for myself the things that make me exclusively who I am...a one of a kind creation. God didn't make any two versions of you or me out there in the world so we are priceless masterpieces and we need not sell ourselves short.
This outfit inspires a lot of confidence I must confess, that kind of confidence you exude when you walk into a building with your shoulders squared and head held high. At that particular moment, you are in charge and no one can mess with you…honestly I believe I share some form of kinship with all the feminists out there. When it comes down to it I think we just want our voices to be heard, we want people to understand the fact that we matter…that’s as fundamental as it gets and if you think about it, it’s not such a bad thing to want all of that.
You might say - ‘All this talk from an outfit?’ but I apologize I’m weird like that, the weirdest things just have a way of popping up in my head and before I know it I’m having an internal dialog which is usually quite scintillating.
This might seem like just an ordinary two-piece danshiki set but the beautiful thing about it is the element of versatility. The pants were made such that I can wear it with a regular button-up shirt to work or paired for a more corporate look and the ‘agbada’ top can quite easily be worn with shorts which is most appealing to me as a lover of shorts.
I’m quite impressed with this set and trust me when I say it is Owambe-worthy and I can’t wait to put it to work. I’m looking forward to this weekend and I really do hope you guys have such great plans laid out and just so you know, staying in bed all day sometimes might be the best plan ever.
