I don’t even know. Episode five has got to be the most emotional roller coaster ride and just full of shock and awe.
It starts out really happy and hopeful. Vanora just gets back from vacation with her uncle, aunt, and cousins. Vanora is 17 and you can tell, more so in this episode, that she has come into her own. She’s that little sister that enjoys torturing her older brother and the boy - vampire - that she has a crush on.
It’s almost as if the Socoli’s have reverted back to the family dynamic of episode one. They are laughing and joking with one another. It’s refreshing and brings a smile to your face and you’re hopeful that maybe that can make this very unique situation work for everybody. Of course, if each prior episode is any indication, this is not going to last.
Remember a few episodes when I said I was waiting for shit to hit the fan? This is when it happens. And oh boy! Everything just goes down at once and I didn’t think I could take it. It was one of those parts of a book where you want to read fast and find out what happens, but at the same time you just want to savor every word.
The final scene between Armando and Vanroa is just...wow. You feel for them and cross your fingers that once everything blows over that maybe - just maybe - something good will happen.
We also get to meet Armando’s Master who scares the crap out of me. I’m not going to lie. He seems terrifying - worse even than the Socoli vampire from the first episode. He isn’t just crazy, but cold and calculating. He knows exactly what he is doing and just has things planned out.
This was an awesome ending to season one with a mini cliff hanger and I am just dying to see what is going to happen in season two, which is out June 7 (post me writing this, pre you reading this). I have so many questions I need answered and so many things that I hope to have happen and I’m just sitting here crossing my fingers.
This is the first serial I’ve ever read and I think an amazing way to start off with this concept of writing that is new to me. Frater kept me on the edge of my seat for the entirely of season one and it is just an amazing story with amazing characters and something you cannot afford to pass up.
