I'll Take Care of You... a Pledge to My Face.

By Teaantoast @teaantoastblog
I think this sort of post is something of a first for me... I don't think I've ever spoken about my skincare regime before? I've only dipped my toes into the "make up" world of blogging briefly when writing about new make up purchases or make overs that I've had done.

I never used to bother with looking after my skin too much when I was a teenager. I'd take my make up off with make up remover wipes and that would be it, none of this cleanse or toning business. Obviously once hitting my late teens when I started learning more about make up and getting more interested in beauty products, and not forgetting the other stuff like consuming alcohol and curing hangovers with countless burgers from McDonalds, my skin became rather spotty. Fortunately I have never had an issue with acne but I did used to have 2 or 3 spots that would never go away, either that or they just packed their suitcases and took another holiday somewhere else on the island of Sian's Face!

The past two years or so I would say my skin has been at it's best, but these past few months no matter what products I use I have had really bad problem areas. My nose has been the biggest problem area. Last year I had big trouble with it becoming swollen and really tender, it wasn't spotty as such it was just really red, itchy and shiny ALL the time! No matter what I used it just didn't go down, and it started spreading across my face and my cheeks became very dry and irritable. After visiting the chemist and trying countless calming creams with none of them really working I didn't know what on earth was going on. I couldn't not wear make up out of pure embarrassment really, which is a little silly as it was definitely making it worse but it was something I was very conscious of. Once it calmed down I used to just skip my nose when putting foundation on and it helped a little, I'd gone and brought higher end make up, skincare products and I thought maybe it was my foundation that was causing it - I was using either Estee Lauder double wear or Rimmel Match Perfect Foundation. I found that wearing the Double Wear everyday dried my skin out and the Match Perfect was in fact the foundation that was causing this problem. I went to boots and spoke to the lady on the Max Factor counter (this was just before Christmas) and she was wonderful! She told me that all the products I had been using, including my moisturiser was too rich for my skin, it was causing my skin to react the way it was all this time. I was looking at their Foundation range when she walked over to me and once telling her all the problems I'd had she told me about their Face Finity All Day Flawless foundation with it being a 3 in 1 kinda thing I thought it was brilliant, as a) I'm really lazy so don't always bother with moisturiser and primer before hand and b) hey I'm getting all this shiz for the price of one thing! As well as advising me on the Max Factor products she took me over to the cleansers and toners and went through all the ones that would be perfect for me and wouldn't be too rich for my skin. I walked out of there a VERY happy girl! Every time I go back into that boots I always look out for her, feel like she's my personal shopper now, she was such a babe!!

ANYWAY (ranting a little here) recently I've started having a huge problem with certain areas around my face, it's right down the center of my face, so my forehead, nose and chin. It's became very spotty (like REALLY bad, we're talking a neighbourhood of spots here not just one chilling with his mate) I don't have a clue what has caused it this time as I wasn't using any new products I wasn't doing anything out the ordinary. AND THEN... I'd ran out of my Max Factor foundation and just haven't had the funds to buy replacements so I had to wack out the double wear and rimmel... ah oh!! Yes my skin has gone MAD!!! Yesterday I bombed it over to boots on a mission and restocked on a few things as well as making two new purchases.

I've always used boots own cleansing wipes, these ones I feel leave my face feeling really refreshed and as I have sensitive skin their perfect and not to mention cheap. These were on offer for 3 for £3. Now I've moved out and having recently just brought a business cheap deals are the best thing since sliced bread!

I still haven't found the perfect skincare regime and moisturiser is one thing I really struggle with. Some I just feel are too heavy, some leave my skin really greasy and others I find the perfume in them make my skin all saw and stiff (if that makes sense?) So the boots simply sensitive range seems a little perfect right? Well we'll give it a bash and see how I get on with that, so far so good. I used it this morning and it felt really good when putting it on, it was rather a thick consistency so it's not like you need a big dollop of the stuff, it went on really smooth and it felt like it sunk into my skin (lol if that's what it does) really quickly.

I also picked up this 3 - minute clay mask. Apart from my everyday routine I don't do anything else to my skin, so I thought it may be best to try one of these out, and as it was on offer for £1.50 why on earth not give it a go eh?

LOL!! Had to be done!

I really hope some of this goes towards making my skin a little better. It was so bad at one point I didn't want to leave the house, yes that sounds so ridiculous but I just felt so embarrassed! Fingers crossed! wow this post is REALLY word heavy. oops!
