By Pamelascott

In November 2014 Arla Macleod bludgeoned her mother, father and sister to death with a hammer.

Now incarcerated at a medium-security mental-health institution, Arla will speak to no one but Scott King, an investigative journalist, whose Six Stories podcasts have become an Internet sensation.

King finds himself immersed in an increasingly complex case, interviewing five witnesses and Arla herself as he questions whether Arla's responsibility for the massacre was a diminished as her legal team made out.

I heard them at lunchtime, over the sound of the radio.

I've wanted to read the other books in the Six Stories series since I read and loved the latest book, Deity recently. I couldn't wait to listen to Hydra. I think reading the book was a better experience than listening to it. I have the next book, Changeling also on audiobook and the kind version of Beast I can't wait to devour. I thought this was a terrific book. The format is the same as the others books I've listened to / read, six versions of a tragic event from people connected in it some way, though the connections are often surprising. This formula works very well, and I hope there are more books to come. I didn't know where Hydra was going to go, and every episode led to more questions. I love the fact not every question is answered but there are enough hints given to make up your own mind. I can't wait to listen to Changeling when I start it in March.
