Hot New Makeup Trends To Embrace In Summer 2016

By Apoorva @perksofbeauty

If summer has got you dreaming of festivals, beach holidays, and garden parties, you're not alone. At long last, it's time to banish those winter blues, and embrace the sun-drenched season ahead. If you're on the lookout for some new makeup looks, or a little inspiration, here are some hot new summer trends to try out now.

The tropics
This is a great trend to play around with if you're going on holiday to an exotic location or you're heading to an outdoor concert or festival. The tropics trend is all about bright colours and having fun. Go for blues, pinks and yellows on the eyes and bold lips. Once you've got your colour pops sorted, just add mascara, and you're good to go.

Natural 90's
Kate Moss' signature paired down 90's look is back with a vengeance. This is great news for all those who prefer a natural look. It's also a fantastic option if you're in a hurry, or you're eager to show off a post-holiday golden glow. This look is all about showcasing your natural beauty. All you need is concealer, liquid foundation and a hint of blush or bronze. Add a touch of highlighter on the cheekbones and brow bones and some mascara to go from day to night seamlessly.

Having spent months trying to master contouring, it's now time to move on. Strobing
Strobing is the new look du jour in the celebrity world. It's a lighter, more summery version, perfect for city breaks and garden parties. The aim of this look is to bring out your features and make your skin glow. You'll need luminescent foundation, highlighter, and gloss. Apply highlighter on top of your foundation to define your cheekbones, brows, and jawline. To add colour and depth, blend a small amount of liquid bronzer into the apples of your cheeks. Finish off with a clear or peach lip gloss.

This is a fantastic option if you want to
try new makeup trends on holiday. Team a slicked back ponytail or beachy waves with fresh, dewy skin. Add liquid bronzer or blush to the cheeks, and gold eyeshadow to create a perfect beach to club look.

The
spring/summer catwalks were bursting with feline flicks and wide eyes. Invest in a liquid liner to get your flicks on point. If you're not confident in your application skills, there are some great video tutorials online. It's often a case of practice makes perfect. Go for a mascara, which thickens and lengthens your lashes. If you're going all-out with your eye makeup, the darker the shade of mascara, the better.

If you're a chameleon always eager to try out new products and looks, now is the time to experiment. In the summer, you can play with colours and be as bold as you like. Equally, this is a fantastic time of year for those who prefer the minimal look. When you've got a healthy glow, you tend to feel more confident. Mix up your looks and have fun. You may love some looks you try. Others, you may not be so sure. But what's the worst that could happen? If you're not keen, wash off and start again. That's the beauty of makeup.
