Hot for the Scot- Kilted Heroes #1 - by Janice Maynard- A Book Review ABOUT THE BOOK: It’s a dream come true for schoolteacher Hayley Smith. No homework to grade, no students to corral, no social media, Internet or cell phone…just a month amid the heather and rolling hills around Inverness. A brawny alpha male in a kilt is probably too much to ask for. But Hayley is in heaven ambling around Loch Ness, gazing and then…falling into the icy water, before being rescued by a strong, chivalrous local hero…
Retired soccer star Angus Munro, aka Angus the Angler, is a little insulted and a whole lot intrigued when Hayley doesn’t recognize him. How long has it been since anyone saw beyond his wealth and fame? And how long before the macho athlete and his modern-day American damsel in distress act on an attraction that could make even the misty Scottish moors sizzle with heat? Long enough, maybe, for both to figure out if this is an affair to remember…or the start of something everlasting…

MY REVIEW:
Hot For The Scot (Kilted Heroes, #1)Hot For The Scot by Janice Maynard
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Hot for the Scot,( Kilted Heroes #1), by Janice Maynard is a 2016 Kensington publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This story is a lot of fun and a must read for fans of Outlander, or those who love Highlanders, and Scottish based romance novels.
Filled with visions of Harry Potter landmarks, and daydreams of Jamie Fraser, three best friends take off for Scotland on a romantic mission. Once they arrive, they agreed to split up and search for what each one needs from this vacation. This first installment in the Kilted Heroes trilogy, centers around school teacher, Hayley, from Georgia.
Hayley’s adventure gets off to an…er..interesting start when she nearly drowns, but, is rescued by a gorgeous, hot, Scot. After he returns Hayley to her quaint bed & breakfast, she learns her rescuer is no ordinary native. It turns out her hero is none other than Angus Munro, aka “Angus the Angler”, a retired football (soccer) star.
Angus has returned to his home town, hoping to put his hard and fast living days behind him and do something meaningful with his life. However, his return home has not gone as smoothly as he had hoped, with the residents shunning him, and constantly questioning his motives.
When he meets Hayley from Georgia, he finds his life turned upside down by the sweet American who is ready to throw caution to the wind in hopes of finding a little romance… and maybe even true love.
Who among you can honestly say you have never envisioned acting out your own version of Outlander, or meeting a modern day Jamie Fraser or another of your favorite men in kilts? This story capitalizes on that particular fantasy in a modern day setting, with a light, fun, easy to read story featuring characters we can relate to.
Hayley’s vacation didn’t turn out exactly as she had thought it would when a natural disaster interferes with her lodgings and her sightseeing plans. But, it does put her in direct contact with Angus again. The sexual chemistry between this couple sizzles and burns, so It was fun to watch them fall in love, face challenges and learn to compromise and work together.
Angus’ priorities garnered my respect and his big heart will have yours melting like butter, and may even have you thinking of planning out your own Scottish excursion.
Overall, this is light, whimsical, contemporary romance that will entertain and delight you.
4 stars

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Hot for the Scot- Kilted Heroes #1 - by Janice Maynard- A Book Review  Janice Maynard came to the writing life early! When her third grade short story, “The Princess and the Robbers”, won a red ribbon in a school arts fair, Janice was hooked. She followed up that early success with a more commercial piece in the sixth grade… “Why My Mom Loves To Drink Coke”. No advance for that one, but she won a six-pack of Coke… remember those great little bottles?
In junior high Janice began circulating her work to a wider audience. A dozen or so notebook pages stapled together made the rounds in some particularly boring classes, with the riveting tales carefully hidden behind textbooks.
High school meant the big time… editor of the school newspaper, the Maroon and White. Janice used her insightful editorials to delve into such meaty subjects as “locker room odor” and “why we need two-ply tissue in the student bathrooms”.
College brought lots of writing, but very little of it creative… four years later, Janice stepped into the adult world as a fully certified elementary teacher.
Despite motherhood, full-time employment, and keeping up with an “always into something” husband, Janice never lost her love of writing or the desire to be published. In 1996 she realized her long-time dream when Kensington Publishing bought her first book, Sweetheart. That exciting moment was followed by the sales of two more books in the Precious Gem line.
In the fall of 2002, Janice left the classroom to pursue writing full-time.
