Honking in Hull #TeamHonkRelay

By Mummyoftwo @RaspberryGiggle

You may remember back in January I told you I would be joining in with the mammoth blogger baton relay from Lands End to John O'Groats, raising money for Sport Relief.

Well, on Monday it was my turn to take up the baton!

Jo from Kids Days out Reviews had done a great job organising a welcoming event for the baton on Sunday and on Monday it was my turn to take the baton up Hessle Road in Hull dressed as a giant duck (yes you did read that right!). Car problems meant I nearly didn't make it, however, Little Miss A and I eventually got there limping all the way at 30mph (though that is a story for another day!).

I had been given the fab costume from Jokers Masquerade to complete my pram push, 'Orville'!

Although a pram push was what had been intended, it turned out to be more of a 'mascot wander' as the only people that joined me were the lovely Pet Respect and their beautiful dog Jess who kindly carried the baton without drooling on it one little bit!

Leaflets were handed out as we made our way along the road giving people our sponsorship details and explaining to them why we were dressed in such funny outfits so early on a Monday morning!

When we reached Asda we handed over the baton to Flora from The Sunday Girls Road Club.

I hope that we managed to raise some awareness of Sport Relief amongst the locals of Hull and a smile or two along the way!

Oh and as for 'Orville' he has found a nice new home with Pet Respect for their future events!
