Like many children of her age, she loves '' items and spends ages with her toy Piggy Bank posting the coins in the slot.

Last week we had a rather dull and dreary day and I wanted to make something new for Little Miss A to play with.

Little Mr A has handed down a big tub of to Little Miss A, however, she doesn't really sit and play with them that often. I decided to make a shape sorter for her from an old .

Homemade Shape Sorter

First I drew around the onto the side of the box before cutting them out with a sharp knife. For some of the shapes I cut out more than one hole so the side had plenty of holes to keep Little Miss A occupied!

Once I had cut out all of the holes I covered the box in paper to make it look a little nicer before cutting around the holes again and taping the edges so they would not tear.

So that the blocks did not fall out of the box until Little Miss A had finished, I cut 4 slots into the top of the box to thread two pieces of ribbon through. This meant I was able to tie up the top of the box whilst Little Miss A was posting the shapes, however, we still had easy access to empty the box and start all over again!

To make it a little more interesting, we put the shapes into a canvas bag first so that she could have a good rummage around to pick out a shape.
