I’m in love with my home country!
This weekend, both of my sisters and myself gathered together for the first time in three years (we all live in different countries) and it was amazing. It’s weird how often you appreciate things properly only when they’re out of your reach. I used to tell everyone how I hated snow, how it was so horribly cold and wet. And there I was yesterday, playing in the snow like it was my first time seeing it. Although, I am quite sure I only liked it that much this time because I knew I only had a couple of days to enjoy it. And the things that used to be a given, but now felt luxurious; endless amount of hot water, working heating, fridge full of food, fireplace, tv, car … ah! You need to go away to realize what you wan’t to come back to they say!
I was quite afraid to return home this morning, I wanted to stay with my sisters and friends and just not worry about anything. But the second the plane landed, I smiled. This place felt home too, without the snow but with all the things that made me love this place still here. The flat was freezing as usually but it was my freezing flat. I might just be one of the luckiest, having two homes this great.
