A clothing company called Betabrand has teamed up with anti-virus giant Norton to develop a new type of a smarty pants that blocks wireless signals to prevent identity theft and keep hackers away from radio frequency identification (RFID) systems on credit cards and passports.
New jeans will come with a blazer which includes a material that repels wireless signals. They will go on sale in February 2015 starting at $151 for a pair of jeans and $198 for the blazer.

Identity theft is the last thing we worry about when picking out clothes. Although, with today’s growing worry about hackers, it is becoming a serious issue. While these jeans may help protect the wearer up to some level, ethical hacker Ken Munro thinks it’s not sufficient enough. He is actually working on a RFID-blocking suit that completely protects the user from wireless signals.
“If we are not explicitly blocking these signals there are a lot of things that can go wrong, from stealing contactless payment card details to more life-threatening issues,” ethical hacker Ken Munro told BBC. “The pockets are shielded but nothing else. Stuff in your pockets is easy to shield with a wallet or similar. Our suit is different – the entire thing is shielded.”
