We were very excited to attend Mannequin’s first birthday on Friday the 2nd of November, held at the Alea Casino in Leeds city center. “Bringing fashion to life” Mannequin is a collaboration of fashion, dance and music combined in order to create unique and spectacular fashion shows. Their aim is to bridge the gap between the dance floor and the catwalk, and that they did!

The evening commenced with champagne and cupcakes upon arrival, giving the guests a chance to mingle and look round the stalls. The show, fashionably late consisted of the usual models strutting their stuff up and down the catwalk in style. However this was no simple fashion show, in fact it resembled that of a professional performance, unleashing some serious talent in Leeds. Models strutted to the music in the designer gear, dancers embraced the stage and vocalists put on a show stopping performance. The highlight of the night (besides the clothes) was the spectacular Michael Jackson finale in which the professional performers and models alike acted out the singer’s famous 1983 soundtrack video “thriller” on the catwalk, whilst Gothic inspired collections in tribute to Halloween were modelled.

Besides the unique fashion show there was also a raffle prize draw in aid of cancer research, with some fabulous giveaways. Lucky WildChildMedia shall be enjoying a lovely dinner for two in the Alea Casino Indian restaurant, courtesy of Mannequin!
