Hair Update: Routine, Length and Color

By Urhappybunnie @joaniebunnie
Hey y'all! It's been exactly 3 months since I cut my hair and made an update about it (I Cut My Hair!) and nearly a year ago since I posted my Hair Care Routine. So today I'm gonna do an update on my current hair care routine, hair color and how long it has grown since I've cut it.
One of the reasons why I cut my hair last November was because it was just severely damaged and unhealthy from heat styling and coloring. If you've read my Summer 2014 Hair Care Routine, you'll know I spend a lot of time and money to keep my hair fairly healthy but obviously, even with great products, you really can't undo split-ends unless you cut them.
With shorter hair, I was able to have healthy and manageable hair. I still do follow my previous hair care routine but with the addition of a new shampoo and conditioner, which is the Mane 'n Tail. I've heard so many great things about it especially those rumors that it makes your hair grow faster than it normally does. I am dying to get my length back and I thought it wouldn't hurt trying this out especially when it was on sale at Rite Aid (BOGO!) when I purchased it.
Hair Update: Routine, Length and Color
Mane 'n Tail Shampoo: The consistency of this shampoo is thick and appears shiny. It lathers and cleans pretty well. It almost felt like a clarifying shampoo. There were some reviews that says it helps with dry scalp and flakes but that didn't do anything for me. I have always had dry skin and scalp all throughout the year but it's worse during the winter and I was hoping this would help but it didn't. On the brighter side, it did make my hair healthier and shinier.
Mane 'n Tail Conditioner: I was expecting this to be up to par with my favorite conditioner which is the L'Oreal Total Repair Extreme Reconstructing Conditioner, but sadly it wasn't. The consistency was thin and slightly liquidy, unlike the L'Oreal Conditioner which was rich, thick and extremely moisturizing. It was an okay conditioner. It does the job of conditioning the hair but it isn't as moisturizing as the other one.
Clarifying all the rumors I've heard about Mane 'n Tail shampoo and conditioner, it does make your hair healthier and shiny because of the proteins that are in it. However, it doesn't make your hair grow any faster than it normally does. The average hair growth in a month is around half an inch, and I have grown 3 inches since November. The reason having grown an inch of hair in a month was because I was taking Biotin supplements and using Lush Roots Hair Treatment. The hair growth is not drastic and I still consider it normal plus I don't really use Roots and Biotin religiously. I would only use Roots perhaps once a week and take Biotin whenever I would remember it. I have also proven the effects of Roots in helping my hair grown since I've first started using it a couple of years ago.
I still use all of the products I mentioned in my Summer Hair Care Routine but the ones that I frequently use is the Mane 'n Tail Shampoo and Conditioner, L'Oreal Total Repair Extreme Reconstructing Conditioner, LUSH Roots Hair Treatment and the Organix Argan Oil of Morocco

Hair Update: Routine, Length and Color

February 2015

As you can see in the photos above, my hair has definitely grown in length. It is more noticeable at the back but I have yet to figure out taking photos of my backside without anyone's help (lol). ^^
If you've noticed, I have also changed my hair color from red to brown! The red actually faded into an ugly red which I despised and I didn't want to go through the whole dyeing-my-hair-red again. I realized that I really miss my brown ombre hair look from last summer so I just decided to just dye it back to brown using the Revlon Colorsilk 50 Light Ash Brown. The red didn't even peek through so it was pretty good. I'm gonna wait for another month before I dye my hair lighter.

I really can't wait til my hair grows back to it's longer length. As for styling, I don't really put too much effort with it since it's short but with my longer layers I sometimes do curl my hair. I'm not subjecting my hair to frequent heat styling because I'm just scared that I'll have to deal with split ends again.
And that's it for my hair update! Til my next hair update! And watch out for my reviews on Korean beauty items because my BNT Beauty Box just arrived!
