European countries are dream destinations for many globetrotters. Europe has all such delightful places that people of every kind enjoy with their family, friends or relatives. Blue waters, sandy beaches, green mountains, art and architecture, history and culture are that what makes Europe blissful for the visitors. But, peak season travel is quite costly and there would be no room for bargain for the travelers. Off-season travel is a smarter way to enjoy European delights.as traveling during this time of the year to Europe surely will cut down your expenditures as the prices go down in hotels, transportation like airfares will be less and generally prices go down. Apart from this, low season travel will be a good time because you will enjoy things more privately and will be free of crowds. So, here is a guide to make the most of your off season in Europe.

  • Be prepared for the weather…
    Low season from November to March will be really cold, rainy, and windy or may be drizzling. So have dress for warmth, shoes that support damp conditions. Southern parts of Europe are comfortable compared to their northern parts. Spain, Greece, Portugal and parts of Italy are good places for off-season tour. You need to be well planned as the days are shorter and mostly indoor visits will be more pleasant. Though the temperature goes down, must see places always welcome you and will be filled with events.
  • Be flexible and choose right time…
    The more easygoing you are more enjoyment you get, so be flexible in deciding where to go and when to go. Some of the attractions might be closed due to unsupported weather conditions or for some reason; as time is precious, make a smart strategy. Late spring weather at most of the European travel destinations is delightful and traveling just before peak season change-over will be cheaper and crowd is not tough to mange. These are some of the places to visit in off season; Amsterdam in April, Alps in October, Algarve in February and Greek Islands around May.
  • Have moderate expectations…
    Be realistic and reasonable with your expectations, some of the hot spots continue their hustle bustle even in off season with high price and crowd. Though its low season, everything depends on the location and sometimes festival season like Christmas at the end of December would make you feel like high season. Learn to take advantage of the time and play wise game to make your travel comfortable and enjoyable.
  • Choose a right destination…
    Off season is featured with cold, rainy and shorter days, so make a right choice about where to go and make best use of your vacation time. Most of the cities have their own ways to mitigate from inconveniences, like in City of Bologna in Italy; there are arcaded streets where you can enjoy shopping and a nice evening walk. Days are shorter but nightlife is more seductive in this season and it’s safer in Europe. Walk along the streets under moonlight to some cafes and enjoy European cuisines. If you are interested in history and architecture you can well appreciate in a off-season trip to Italy, where you can appreciate Rich Gothic art. Paris is a right place to visit museums, cathedrals and galleries as they are crowded in peak season.
  • Enjoy local markets and fairs…
    Off season travel offers you good time with local fairs and markets to watch local folks activity and have good interaction. Visit any local farmers farm, enjoy local festivals in a pleasant winter  atmosphere. The wine and harvest festivals and lot more small festivals dedicated to art, culture,  and food are worth attending it is a best way for you to learn about their way of life.
  • Stay at right place…
    Lodging is quite cheaper in off-season and it’s easy to find a place in cities or choose a nice village to stay. You can also think about staying in some historic places like Rome, Paris etc. , which would give you a wonderful experience. Alhambra in Granada, alcazar palace in Seville are some historic centers to visit and staying some were around would help you roam around easily.

Off season trips to these places is worth and there is lot to visit and learn. In brief off season in Europe is the best time with greater cultural options, lesser crowd, mingling opportunities, cheaper travel fares and commodities with a relaxed atmosphere.
