Today’s two grammar tips:
- “Like” is a preposition and should be followed by an object to make a prepositional phrase. “As” is a conjunction and should be followed by a clause containing a subject and a verb. So, you would say, “He runs like a cheetah,” or you would say, “He runs as a cheetah does.”
- The art of magic often involves sleight of hand, not slight of hand. “Sleight” is related to the word “sly,” and it means “deceitful craftiness or dexterity.”
