Today we’re sharing a gorgeous wedding in Mykonos captured by Nikos Psathoyiannakis  that you will fall in love with! Samantha and David decided to get marry in a Greek island that combines natural beauty, nice weather and fun, so Mykonos was the best choice. The ceremony took place in a beautiful villa with a breathtaking view and a wonderful decoration. The dominant colors of the decoration were gold and white with geometric details on the tables. The most impressive touch of the decoration was an amazing, natural arch with white curtains and fresh flowers. The afterparty offered to the couple and the guests many moments of joy and emotion and it closed with impressive fireworks. This definitely was a wedding no one will forget!

The stylish bride shared with us: “My husband, David, was friend with my best friend’s brother. (they are like family to me) and we met at a BBQ.”

David wanted to propose at the Niagara Falls (so he had planned a surprise trip) but he kept postponing as we had few changes happening in our careers and life and one day he decided that it was enough, so he went to buy tones of roses and petals and when I came home from work, the whole apartment was covered in red roses petals and candles and he finally popped the question. Which was actually how I dreamed it, so it was perfect.”

“We picked Greece first of all, because we live in Switzerland and the weather is unpredictable. We love travelling and the beach/party definitely represents us more than countryside or winter etc. We thought about Spain but David’s family is originally from Spain so we couldn’t have our intimate wedding there, as our guests list would have quadrupled. Then we had just came back from Santorini: the views there are breathtaking however the beaches and bars are not so much fun. And our prewedding event was on the beach, so Mykonos was the best choice.”

“The ceremony took place in Mykonos, in Atalanta Villa. The whole idea was to spend some family time before and after the wedding and not having to commute to much on the big day and as we kept our guests list very small, we wanted something very intimate and without noise and time restrictions (for the dinner and afterparty).”

“For the decoration, we wanted something classy with a touch of “earthy”, this is why we picked a natural arch, with white curtains and flowers and wooden tables for the reception, with few geometric shapes on the tables. Some things like the souplas I brought from Switzerland.”

“I think that my bouquet was made with white hydrangeas, as my favorite flowers are peonies and you can’t find them in September and I wanted a round and “tight” bouquet.”

“The best moment of your wedding was when we exchanged our vows, it was emotional. For me, when I saw David waiting with this view and our close family and friends in my head it was “this is it”. But we really enjoyed every minute of this amazing night.”

“Our wedding was basically with white and goldish tones with geometric decor on the tables. We used wedding magazines (some from Australia as my mother lives there), Instagram, a bit of Pinterest for finding ideas while planning our wedding, and of course our wedding planners Maria & Athina sent us some ideas and also advised on what could be done in Mykonos.”

“I had one dress for the ceremony and one for the reception. The bigger one for the ceremony, I brought from Switzerland (I had to negotiated with the pilot on the plane so he could hang it behind him – it was pretty funny). I always pictured myself in a princess dress even though mermaid dresses fit me, just because I have other opportunities to wear “tight” dresses and I knew David wanted to see me in something “romantic” and when I tried the dress on, it was an “it is the one” moment – I just felt very comfortable in it (big but not to heavy) and for the reception dress, my mother brought it from Australia and it fitted perfectly, it was more of a mermaid style (more sexy for the night).”

Her advice to a bride that is planning her wedding now: “Don’t try to please everyone, it is your day and it should be about you and your future husband and what makes you feel comfortable and definitely invest in some help as planning a wedding can be stressful and you don’t want to be running after everything and everyone on your big day. Also, I do recommend a Destination Wedding as you get to celebrate for a few days and it is magical (everyone is there for you – they are on holidays).”
