Google is reportedly working to launch apps that works across Google Android, Chrome and iOS, as early as in January, 2014. This project will bring Chrome packaged apps to mobile platforms, allowing an easy way to connect many devices, turning Chrome web apps into a universal platform.

According to The Next Web, Google is already building a toolkit to let developers get a head start in making their Chrome apps more mobile friendly. Folks over at TNW has spotted a GitHub repository for this project dubbed Mobile Chrome Apps, which reveals details about Google’s new Chrome project led by a Google software developer, Michal Mocny.

When launched, HTML5 Chrome apps, probably including offline apps will be able to access from Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store, as well as via desktop. However, there’s no signs indicating this will arrive for Windows Phone. Since Google and Microsoft have a quite interesting history together, I highly doubt it to happen any time soon.

This news comes just after Samsung revealing their plans on integrating Mozilla’s Firefox OS with Tizen to bring better HTML5 apps to Samsung phones. Seems like more manufacturers are seriously considering HTML5 as the future of mobile apps. We will get a chance to see how these new apps work, very soon when Google launches beta Chrome apps in early next year.
