Google has launched the Chromecast 2 and chromecast Audio devices in India today, for Rs 3,399 and can be bought at Google Play Store. Both these devices were introduced last year along with Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. Chromecast 2 incorporate a new design and better performance compared to the first generation Chromecast while the Chromecast Audio is a dedicated music streaming device.
Chromecast 2, like the previous version, converts any TV into a smart TV. It comes with a new circular design with the HDMI cable looped within the device itself. Chromecast 2 will be coming in yellow and red color options and can support 5GHz Wi-Fi 802.11ac along with its Fast Play Feature which allows it to start video or audio streaming much faster after users press the cast button. While the original Chromecast came with 2GB of flash storage while the new version comes with just 256MB.
The device can be easily controlled via the new Chromecast app which includes a new search feature, letting users search for Chromecast-compatible content from various media streaming apps like YouTube, Google Play Movies, Netflix, and others. The new Chromecast still doesn’t offer streaming of 4K content, just 1080P as of now.
Chromecast Audio is, on the other hand, is extremely helpful for music lovers who like stream music to their home theater. It is a small device that can be plugged into a standard speaker, car stereo, television etc., for streaming music over Wi-Fi and can basically turn any standard speaker with an Aux-in input into a Wi-Fi-capable device.
