Glossybox-July-box

July’s Glossybox has taken an aqua turn with this summer splash box. Covered in coral-coloured sea plants, this rather ugly box is a change from the usual (and far more elegant) pink Glossybox. Want to know what’s inside?

Glossybox-July-Essie

The first product is one I never thought I would have tried. It’s some stick-on nail patterns by Essie - a brand that I like a lot – but a product I’ve always associated with teenage girls. I decided to give them a go, especially seeing as they’re gold and I’m an absolute sucker for gold nail polish. They stick on easily enough, and as there’s 9 different sizes to choose from you’re bound to find some stickers which fit your nails well. The Essie Sleek Stick set comes with a nail file to help shape nails and to file away the stickers to size. It’s quite a quick and easy process, but I still prefer the coverage of normal nail polishes.

This full set costs £9.99 which is a lot, especially since the foil print doesn’t last longer than a few hours before beginning to rub off. I took the set off after about 24 hours as most nails looked faded. Very disappointed…

Glossybox-July-Sleek

My boyfriend saw these and straight away said ‘please don’t put those on your lips!’ – I think he was terrified that I’d end up looking like a clown. However the idea is that you mix them to create your perfect shade. I’m not one for lip stains so if you’d like to buy the pair of these Sleek Pout Paints I’m selling them for £4.00 including postage – just leave a comment on this post.

These are full size and would normally cost £4.99 each.

Glossybox-July-Coola

Coola is a brand I was excited to see because I’ve wanted to try them out for a while. This is an organic and unscented mineral sunscreen which is also a moisturiser, and with environmental protection too. It’s SPF 20 and ideal for someone as pale as me. It spreads really well too so you only need a little bit, although the protection only lasts for 2 hours after application which is a bit disappointing.

This 7ml sample is worth £4.20. I think paying £29.99 for 50ml is too much and would probably deter people from taking proper care of their skin…

Glossybox-July-Bamboo-Style

Anything to tousle up my dull and annoyingly straight hair is a huge bonus for me. So many tousle products I’ve tried haven’t worked, but seeing as most have been creams or mousses I was keen to try this Alterna Bamboo Style Boho Waves which is actually a liquid spray. I’ve found that it does actually work quite well, although it did make my hair look a bit messy. It definitely added style and volume which I liked.

This 25ml sample is worth £4.60.

Glossybox-July-Anatomicals

Lastly is the Anatomicals Spray Misty for Me Facial Spritz. I was unhappy to see this in the box but it’s a personal gripe; I don’t like Anatomicals at all because I don’t understand their ‘sense of humour’. Plus I’ve found that every single product of theirs I’ve tried absolutely stinks. This one isn’t an exception because it smells like old people. Yuck.

This is a full size product worth £6.00.

Total value of the box = £34.77

I’m a little nonplussed about this box. It’s got some things I was excited to see, and others I was dreading. I have seen that some other July 2013 Glossybox boxes have contained Ciate nail polishes, Nip & Fab skincare products, dry shampoo etc which I think are much nicer products than what I’ve got. Seeing as I’m only going to use 2 of my products I’ll have to give this a 2 out of 5 star rating. This is probably one of my least favourite boxes, but there’s always next month to look forward to.

What did you get? Did you like your box?
