Glasstic Shatterproof Glass Water Bottle Review

I drink about 70 oz (or a little over 2 liters) of water every day. Why? It's so healthy and refreshing! Most of the time I use a reusable plastic water bottle, but thanks to Glasstic and Tomoson, I was able to try out a shatterproof Glasstastic glass water bottle.
Glasstic glass water bottles are made of toxin-free glass that is surrounded by a BPA-free plastic outer shell. The glass is kept in the outer shell by a removable bottom. The lid sports a carrying handle and a lock to keep the lid closed. All of the parts can be taken apart and washed, and all parts are recyclable.

The outer shell of the Glasstic bottle is there to protect the glass bottle from breaking. If the glass bottle does shatter, the outer shell keeps the glass inside, making this the perfect glass bottle for going to the pool or beach, where other glass bottles may not be permitted.

This version of the Glasstic bottle has a handle on the lid, making the bottle easy to carry on a long walk. The handle folds, which makes it easy to keep it out of the way when you're drinking from the bottle. The bottle can also be placed into an insulated sleeve with a handle that can be hooked onto a stroller for easy transport. I bring it with me on my walks with the kids and I hang it from the stroller.

The glass insert holds about 16 oz. of liquid. While it does keep drinks cooler than a plastic bottle, it isn't an insulated water bottle. The outer shell keeps all condensation inside so that there is no sweat from the bottle.

Why use a glass water bottle?

Many plastic bottles can contain BPA or other harmful chemicals that can mix in with your water, plus give your water or drink a weird taste. Aluminum or metal bottles have metals that can leach into your water and also give your beverage a weird taste. Glass, on the other hand, is safe for water and there's no weird taste at all. In fact, that's my favorite part about this water bottle: the water tastes clean and fresh!

Another reason to use glass? It's 100% recyclable! That eliminates so much waste that you'd see from plastic water bottle use. I like that I can just keep refilling this bottle and wash it easily when I am done with it for the day.

Does the glass bottle break easily?

When my water bottle was delivered here, my mail carrier accidentally dropped it. I was worried when I opened it that I would find shattered glass, but the bottle was fine! My young kids have also dropped the bottle, and the glass did not break. While they don't promise that the glass inside your bottle will last forever, Glasstic did come through with their promise that the glass inside would not break easily.

If the glass does break, it's simple to remove. You just take apart the outer shell and remove the glass. Glasstic offers a replacement part for the cost of shipping and handling (around $7.99) if your glass bottle should break. That way, instead of buying a whole new bottle, you can just replace the glass and continue to use all of the plastic pieces.
