Luxury and glamour are at the heart and soul of Franck Provost, and nowhere does this shine brighter than at the Cannes Film Festival, where for more than 20 years the Franck Provost Paris team have been tending the tresses of global cinema stars.

So what have been the key styling trends thus far in Cannes as worn by celebrities and A-listers on the red carpet? We’ve spied sleek chic, vintage waves and tousled tresses as our favorite looks…

WORN BY: Flora Coquerel, CIndy Bruna, Jessica Kahawaty, Michel Pras and Nieves Alvarez
Sleek, chic and ultra smooth, Nieves, Michel and Cindy chose an au natural finish, whereas Flora’s look was very much about long straight locks with a gelled back crown.

1. Wash and condition hair, then add Kérastase L’Incroyable Blowdry heat styling lotion and blow dry smooth.
2. Pump a generous amount of Franck Provost ‘Wet Look’ Gel Effect into hands and apply thoroughly throughout the root area. Stretch the gel as far back and down the hair shaft as you would like the wet look to finish, really working it through the hair so it’s not only on the top layer.
3. For an unstructured look, use your fingers to rake back the strands into your desired look.
4. For a more uniform finish, comb through with a wide tooth comb for deep separation or a fine tooth comb for even tension. Finish with strong hold hairspray such as L’Oréal Professionel Infinium on the gelled area of hair to keep your wet look ‘do in place.
6. For a glamorous evening look, create a deep side part and comb back your strands into desired shape. Finish with a strong red lipstick and you are ready to go!

TREND #2 VINTAGE WAVES

WORN BY: Lucie Lucas, Raica Oliveira, Anouchka Delon and Gloria Patricia Contreras
These beauties were glamour personified, some channelling vintage 40s waves whilst others sported one shoulder voluminous curls in true Victoria’s Secret supermodel style.

GET THE LOOK: GLORIA PATRICIA CONTRERAS
1. Shampoo and condition your hair with volumising products such as L’Oréal Professionel Volumetry shampoo and conditioner and blot dry with a towel.
2. Create your preferred parting, then apply a volumising mousse throughout the hair and comb product through with a wide tooth comb, starting at the ends and working up towards the roots.  Choose Kérastase Incroyable Blowdry for thicker, curly hair or L’Oréal Professionel Full Volume Extra for fine hair.
3. Divide hair into four sections. Choose an extra big round brush made of natural boar bristles – the bristles are the key to controlling hair texture and promoting sheen.
4. Take small sections of hair, just wide enough to cover the brush, and blowdry, using the nozzle on the end of the dryer to control the surface and keep any frizz under control. Stretch and over direct each section to get the desired wave and volume and gently curl the ends with the brush.
5. After blow drying each section, hit the cool shot button on the dryer and glide the nozzle down the hair from roots to ends. The cool air sets the shape and will leave your hair looking shiny.
6. Once you have finished drying, gently smooth the hair with a finishing bristle brush and place hair as desired on the shoulder. Set with Kérastase Laque Couture hairspray for a gentle hold with movement.
7. If you prefer a curlier finish, take random sections of hair and curl with a 2-inch tong, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends. Curl in opposite directions for a more haphazard, tousled finish.

Glam Chic Shines 2019 Cannes Film Festival – Hair by Franck Provost Paris

WORN BY: Katherine Konlin, Doria Tillier and Daria Platt
Tousled waves with a matte texture and almost beachy finish, this look had a modern French nonchalance that contrasted beautiful with the glamorous fashion of Cannes.

GET THE LOOK: DARIA PLATT
1. Coat damp towel dried strands with a texturising spray such as L’Oréal Professionel Tecni.ART Pli Shaper and rake it through your hair with your hands.
2. Create your preferred parting, then divide the hair into two horizontal sections. Use a tail comb to separate it and clip the top section up.
3. Working with finger length pieces, twist hair from root to tip in a clockwise direction away from your face. Unclip the top sections and repeat the same technique.
4. Using your hairdryer’s diffuser (to prevent hair from blowing out of control and becoming unmanageable), blow-dry hair in a circular motion until your locks are 90% dry.
5. Shake out gently with your fingers and finish with a spritz of texturising powder spray such as L’Oréal Professionel Tecni.ART Savage Panache. This will add grip, texture and volume to enhance the style.
