Givenchy Photo'Perfexion Foundation | Review & Swatch
"Inspired by digital imaging, Photo'Perfexion liquid foundation makes the skin look flawless and natural due to two innovative complexes. SkinPerfectorComplex acts like a digital eraser while Lighting Complex gives luminosity and radiance to the skin. As if by magic, all blemishes, flaws and wrinkles disappear: the complexion is smoothed and radiant. The medium coverage foundation is the first from Givenchy and includes SPF 20. Finally...digitally perfect with sun protection."

*Available in 12 shades.*
TIP 1: Fingertip application is recommended, but a foundation brush can be used.
TIP 2: Place as small amount of PHOTO'PERFECTION into the palm of the hand, then apply over the entire face, including the eyelids, with circular, upward movements.

Price - $49          -  INR 2750 for 25ml
Till now I have used only a handful of luxury/high-end foundations  - Shiseido Dual Balancing, Lancome Teint Miracle, YSL Touche Eclat (of course, everyone has!) and Dior Nudeskin (my favourite) to name a few (rather, the most). The reason being, I do not feel the need to spend a lumpy amount on these when I can get equally good and sometimes even better ones in drugstore - like Bourjois Healthy Mix (many say it is just like Chanel's Vitaluminere, with a little more coverage), Rimmel Wake Me Up ( trust me, it is just like Touche Eclat by YSl, again with more coverage), Rimmel Match Perfection, Revlon Color Stay Whipped Cream foundation (amazing foundation) etc etc...
Givenchy Photo'Perfexion Foundation | Review & SwatchAnyways, back to my reason of splurging on this little bugger. So my hubby ended up spending a fortune of money and time on electronics last week, so he owed me a splurge-y shopping day,  which resulted in this.I must add another reason I did not end up buying the YSL Youth Liberator, the SA at the YSL counter was really pushy. Somehow, for them, making someone buy a item first requires them to insult the appearance of our skin and in meantime, be really freaking pushy about it...They totally made me run away from their counter. The SA at the Givenchy was amazingly nice, sweet and to the point. She did point out imperfections on my face, but then she was realistic about them as I too agreed on what she said.  She was not at all pushy neither did she try to sell me whatever was available at that counter. She let me inquire about the products and entertained my curiosity. So obviously I ended up spending a lot over there :PAlthough I almost bought the new Givenchy'sTeint Couture Foundation, but didn't like its coverage and texture. I mean it was good, but this was better :)The first time I saw the bottle of this foundation I gasped "Oh my God! That's it?? That's the amount I get for spending almost INR 3000 on a foundation?."But then I saw - 25ml  **uff..Thank God!** cuz the bottle makes the quantity seem less than 20ml, it is a tiny bottle (yay for travel friendly bottle!!)
So now, the foundation...Packaging - Givenchy's Photo'Perfexion Foundation comes in a small and sturdy glass bottle. The quantity is 25 ml.The cap is a black solid plastic, with holographic symbol of Givenchy on the top. The bottle is cute, attractive and light to carry around.Texture -  The foundation is a silky and creamy fluid. It is very moisturising and lends a beautiful glow to the skin. It has no reflective shimmers/crystals.Ingredients Active: Octinoxate (Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate) 7.49%; Oxybenzone (Benzophenone-3) 2.5%; Other: Water, Butylene Glycol, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Dimethicone, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Dimethicone PEG-7 Phosphate, Phenoxyethanol, Squalane, Steareth-21, Caprylyl Glycol, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Steareth-2, Tocopheryl Acetate, Polysorbate 60, Parfum (Fragrance), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Commiphora Myrrha Extract, Sodium Hydroxide, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Disodium Distyrlbiphenyldisulfonate, BHT, Artemia Capillaris Flower Extract, Hedera Helix (Ivy) Extract, Geraniol May Contain: Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Mica
Givenchy Photo'Perfexion Foundation | Review & Swatch
I have taken a major liking to this foundation. This one does blur out the imperfections like magic. Provides "soft-focus" to the visage, which looks really flattering. I kid you not, my hubby who rarely comments on my makeup, did actually say  " your face is glowing!" what did you do?? Haha, don't you like such moments "thank you makeup" :PThe "glow" is undeniable, but may be a sure shot problem for oily skinned girls. The foundation is so creamy and dewy that it might cause trouble for someone with oily skin. My skin is combination-oily with dry patches all over right now. It works great on my dry areas but I really need to dab over a mattifying powder over my T-Zone.The foundation somehow minimizes the appearance on lines and pores over my face. You can see in the picture above where I have swatched the product, the hand looks almost blurred!I have it in color 6 - Perfect Honey. It seems bit darker than my MAC NC 20-25 skin, but it blends out well. The shade above it was a tad too light and pink. I would rather go darker than go pinkish, which is not my tone!
PROS -
  • Good Coverage
  • SPF 20
  • Soft Focus effect, blurs imperfections
  • Dewy finish, silky feel and moisturizing
  • Does not exaggerate dry patches
  • Very light and easy to apply
  • Makes face look healthier (mine does!)
  • No breakouts or irritation caused
  • Buildable coverage, does not cake up
  • Sanitary pump mechanism
  • provides very natural look a la "my skin but better"

CONS -
  • Expensive
  • Contains Fragrance which may irritate some skin types
  • may not suit oily skin (although I would suggest trying a sample)
  • Colour selection sucks. Limited shades, mostly for lighter skin tones. Darker skin tone have very very limited options.
  • Only 25ml  :(   ...standard size is 30ml ..
