GHS – What’s Next?

Posted on the 01 August 2016 by Infographixdirectory @infographixdir

The Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of labeling hazardous chemicals became a requirement in the United States December 1, 2015. This colorful infographic shows the timeline of events related to GHS that lead up to and after that date.

GHS uses a defined set of pictograms to label containers so viewers are aware of the hazards of the chemicals within. Employees, safety workers and emergency personnel responding to dangerous situations can more easily determine the necessary precautions required to deal with accidents involving these chemicals. Handling for storage and transport are easier because the hazards are easily recognized without looking names up or having to memorize chemical properties.

Additionally, the timeline in this infographic helps the viewer understand the process involved in aligning GHS with the existing chemical labeling requirements in the US.
