Getting a Winter Hair Health Checkup with Pantene Pro-V [Sponsored]

By Wardrobeoxygen

I love my hair in the summer. It craves the humidity of DC and while others deal with frizz, I end up with high-volume ringlets. But as September ends, so do my good hair days. I hate to admit how much I've spent on random styling products I've seen promoted on blogs and in YouTube videos in an attempt to make my winter hair look healthy, shiny, and stylish.

When Pantene reached out asking if I'd like to try one of their product lines, something clicked with me. I've been spending so much time focusing on the styling but not on the actual health of my hair. I get regular trims, but with the dry winter air, my regular coloring to cover sporadic greys, and all the heat tools I use for styling, my hair is dry and dull. Since my hair isn't as curly in the winter, my roots seem to look greasier faster, meaning more washes, and washing away protective oils to heal my hair.

Pantene's Pro-V Daily Moisture Renewal is a collection of shampoos, conditioners, stylers and treatments designed for daily use to help repair dry, damaged hair. Each product in the Daily Moisture Renewal Collection contains a proprietary Pro-Vitamin formula that helps to control hair's moisture levels and prevent damage for a soft, smooth, moisturized feel. Pantene sent me their Pantene Pro-V Daily Moisture Renewal Hydrating Shampoo, Conditioner, and 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner. The box with these three products arrived an hour after I was cursing my reflection, looking at my just-washed hair that already looked greasy at the roots and dry at the ends, flat on top and frizzy on the bottom giving me a Patty Duke bell-like 'do even though I have a great cut that is to accomplish the exact opposite. No time like the present to try to fix this mess!

I received the products from Pantene a bit before Thanksgiving and used it for a week at the time of these photos. Biggest difference for me was how my hair felt. I hate the heavy feeling of product or too much conditioner, yet hate having my hair feel like straw. After one use of the shampoo, conditioner, and 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner my hair felt... dare I say younger? It had more weight, but not that greasy product weight, more like the weight of having more hair. It also felt soft and silky and the ends looked flawless, not fried. The 3 Minute Miracle is pretty intense and I wouldn't use more than once a week but the shampoo and conditioner is perfect for every wash and gentle enough even for color-treated hair. With just the shampoo and conditioner, I can go without product and my hair isn't a fried frizz ball. My haircut is still layered for curls, but the Pantene Pro-V Daily Moisture Renewal line helps smooth my hair so I can wear it straight or with a subtle wave. In fact with these photos, there's absolutely no product, I just dried my hair with a paddle brush.

These days, I care more about maintaining my beauty. I've found a skincare routine that pampers my face, but I have really neglected my hair. I went shorter this year, and I'm still trying to figure out how to make it work with my hair texture and my personal style. With age, hair gets dryer, more brittle, thins, and has special needs.

Did you know that Pantene has used science behind their products since 1945? Their shampoos and conditioners contain Pro-Vitamins to help prevent and repair damage, making hair so healthy it shines. I used to use Pantene, and now that I've tried it again I wonder why I switched? I'm glad Pantene reached out and encouraged me to switch up my hair game with this winter hair health checkup. No longer will I be ignoring my tresses, it's time to care for my beauty, literally from head to toe!
