Get The Look: Hair Edition

By Hollysbeautybox @hollysbeautybox
On this here wee blog that I update less often that I should, you usually see a lot of makeup things or fashion things but I thought I would branch out a little bit and show you all how I get my hair looking the dogs paws. (yes, I am aware that is not the actual saying... I'm making my content suitable for a younger audience as well as all you dirty minded oldies! jokes!)
Get The Look: Hair Edition  My hair has a story of evolution. Back in my childhood, it was poker straight and  was the envy of everyone because it was so long and shiny (I used to be able to sit on it, I also still had a big ass back then, not everything has evolved Lolz).  In my teens and early twenties, it became wavy and voluminous. I also cut it to shoulder length so I looked a little bit like John Lennon, or so my classmates would say (teenage kids can be cruel, honest, but cruel).  Fast forward to my late twenties and my hair is poker straight and has zero volume, so adding volume to my hair is definitely essential.

I also have a problematic scalp, I get eczema on my scalp and it flares up to the point where it itches and I loose a fair amount of hair. Attractive huh? I can't dye my hair and haven't been able to in almost a year so please don't judge my roots too harshly! I can't really use any harsh shampoo's and oils are a definite no-no for my scalp which is why when I stumbled across the Garnier Ultimate Blends "The Ultimate Soother" Delicate Oat I snapped it up. For the past 3 weeks or so, I've washed my hair using this and I love how it makes my hair shine without feeling heavy.
Once I've used the shampoo I head onto adding some mousse or spray to prep my hair for adding some curls and volume. I've been really enjoying using the Creightons The Curl Company Hold and Body Curl Defining Mousse and the Curl Reviving Styling Spray. When these two came popping through my letterbox a few weeks ago, I initially thought they were most suited to people who already had curly hair, but actually this works equally as well on straight hair or any other texture. I apply the Mousse throughout the roots (not too close to the scalp before anyone chimes in haha!) and then spray some spray through the lengths of the hair while it's damp.
Two lifetimes later and my hair is finally blow dried (more like fifteen minutes but still!) and I'm ready to get started on styling.

I was recently send the Glamoriser Black Diamond Salon Results Touch Straightener to try out and as you might remember, I tried out the original version a while back too. I loved the originals (still do!) but they have now been given to my sister and these ones are replacing them. I love the fact that it has a touch display, the other ones were adjustable but everytime I pressed the buttons I burned my hand so this upgraded styler is making my hands less burned.

To style my hair I start about a third of the way down the hair before twisting the hair away from the face to create soft subtle waves. I then take my little tail comb and backcomb the roots slightly just to add some extra bounce. The great thing is that with these straighteners, you can use a good amount of hair at one time if you're lazy like me. I can't be bothered faffing about with my hair so quick and efficient is always at the top of my agenda when it comes to any hair related products. These fit the bill perfectly (and they don't dry the ends of my hair thanks to the black diamond infused plates!).
To finish, I spray some ellnette and hope it lasts all day (which thanks to the mousse, it definitely does last and doesn't tend to drop.)
None of the products I've used make my hair feel dry, crunchy or full of product. I am one of these people who runs my hands through my hair 100 times a day and stickiness is just not going to cut it for me. Soft hair all the way!
So there you have my Get The Look: Hair Edition! I'm also going to be doing a Get the look: face edition soon too so keep an eye on my blog in the coming days :)
Which hair products have you been loving?
