By Ohsocynthia @OhSoCynthia
One of the things I love about Dallas, is that there is no shortage of things to do: educational, cultural, culinary, charitable, fashion-oriented, spiritual... you want it, Dallas serves it up! Every week there are literally dozens of options to entertain and enlighten yourself or create moments that you'll carry with you for a lifetime. Here are my highlights for this week:
Get Out & About for the week of October 29, 2012Get Out & About for the week of October 29, 2012
There are some really spooktacular happenings this Halloween for us big kids looking for some adult treats. On Tuesday, Oct. 30, join ghostess Susie O, of SusieDrinksDallas.com, at The People’s Last Stand in Mockingbird Station for a sinister pre-Halloween evening of decadent complimentary fare courtesy of chef Josh Black, a cauldron of custom cocktails, live music, classic slasher flicks and a fortune teller. There will be two sinfully fabulous prizes given for the best costumed attendees, so dress to impress! To help you get your night ff to a great start, they will even give you two complimentary drink tickets when you arrive. For more information, visit www.Mockingbirdstation.com/events
On Wednesday, October 31st, throw on your best hillbilly costume and head to Sissy’s Southern Kitchen & Bar for a Halloween Hoedown. The shindig kicks off at 5 p.m. Stillhouse Moonshine cocktails will be on pour for $7 all night, and a special prize will be given to the best hillbilly outfit in the house. Dovetail’s White Lightning Quartet, a local indie band, will take the stage at 7 p.m. Reservations for the party are not necessary but they are encouraged if you want to stay for dinner and can be made by calling 214.827.9900.
Get Out & About for the week of October 29, 2012 One of America’s most beloved food & lifestyle bloggers is Ree Drummond from “The Pioneer Woman”. You can hear her speak at the inaugural Celebrity Chef Luncheon on Thursday, November 1, at Brook Hollow Golf Club. All funds generated by the luncheon will benefit the Food Allergy Center at Children’s Medical Center and support the Food Allergy Initiative’s nationally recognized research, advocacy, awareness and education efforts.
There will also be a VIP Reception and book signing with Ree before the luncheon for attendees. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit http://www.childrens.com/allergyluncheon
Get Out & About for the week of October 29, 2012 The Dallas Zoo will become Sin City on Saturday, November 3, for the 21st Annual Zoo To Do benefiting the Dallas Zoological Society. This year's theme, "Go Big or Go Home," is sure to be fabulous and you will experience food from some of Dallas's premier restaurants and chefs, be treated to live entertainment, and have the opportunity to bid on some very special and unique items during the live and silent auctions.
Zoo To Do is a major source of funding for the Dallas Zoological Society. With the proceeds from the event, the Society is able to continue in its mission to support the Dallas Zoo as an outstanding center of education, entertainment, and wildlife conservation.
The party will be held in the Giants of the Savanna exhibit at the Dallas Zoo. The evening begins with cocktails, a stroll through the Savanna and the silent auction. It continues with more than 25 of Dallas's finest chefs and restaurants providing food at different stations throughout the event. It is a true "grazing" event. Music, dancing, and other live entertainment will continue throughout the evening and will be followed by a spectacular live auction and late night dancing under the stars.
