It is important to note that Reliance Jio has not been commercially launched, hence they are not charging for any service. Also, Jio is not offering to port in your existing numbers.

In case, you buy a Lyf branded handset or a JioFi WiFi device, then obviously you will have to pay for the devices. For the SIM card, there is no charge as such. The Reliance JioFi device costs Rs 2,899, but this includes the price of the SIM.

Till now the Jio SIM card was only available through smartphones of certain brands. Earlier, Reliance had offered Jio SIMs to consumers through employee invites. Jio employees had 10 invites to share with friends who could buy a SIM card with any of the LYF phones. Later, Reliance made it a semi-open system by giving a Jio SIM card with any LYF phone.

Earlier LG had announced Jio Preview Offer on their LG 4G VoLTE smartphones – LG G5, LG K10, LG K7, LG X Screen, LG Stylus 2 Plus, LG Stylus 2, LG XCAM, LG G4, LG Spirit LTE, LG G4 Stylus 4G & Nexus 5X.

Jio comes like a breath of fresh air in Indian Telecom Industry, where the current state of data connectivity is very poor. In our tests of Jio, we have got amazingly fast speeds up to 76Mbps and average around 35 Mbps wherein no other company is offering nationwide 4G services. Also, whatever handful options are available are unsatisfactory  in terms of Speed, Connectivity and Quality.
