Top tips for a beautiful beach bod:
- Start by replacing those stodgy winter foods with lighter, fresher versions. Swap sausages and mash for grilled chicken and baked sweet potatoes, calorific curry for a healthy tofu stir fry and fatty fish pie for roast salmon and salad. Get rid of those cakes and Easter's sweet treats with a trip to the supermarket to stock up on delicious summery fruits such as strawberries, melon, mango, grapes and oranges.
- Replace creamy coffees and hot chocolates with green or fruit teas to save calories. A hot chocolate with whipped cream and whole milk can have over 650 calories, while a green tea usually has none at all. Try liquor-ice tea for those of you with a sweeter tooth.
- If you want to lose a few pounds before summer, consider trying out a free diet app on your phone, which allows you to track your calorie intake and activity levels.
- When the weather is cold, most people don't feel inclined to go out for a jog or play tennis. Consequently many people put on weight in the winter and then try to lose it in the summer. Exercising is key to shaping up, losing weight and feeling great. Swimming is good starter exercise for people who haven't worked out in a while and a couch-to-5k programme is excellent for building up fitness levels.
- Invest in some new swimwear. Take a look at regular or plus size swimwear to determine the most flattering fit for your shape. Choose a color that will work with your skin tone and accessorize your swimming costume with some chic sunglasses, an on-trend sarong and some elegant sandals.
