From the House of Troy

By Rohit Dassani

House of Troy is a new Greek and Mediterranean Café located in Koramangala opposite to Forum Mall. The place is inspired by Greek warriors and the same can be felt from the walls. The place is beautifully decorated with white marble and glasses on all sides. They even have an open seating arrangement apart from an indoor space. The place looks stunning with bold colors with golden boundaries.

The bar menu has many unique cocktails like Chili Chocolate Martini, Ouzotini or Apple Beet Thyme. The Chili Chocolate Martini is made with liquor infused with green chilies, martini rosso, chocolate powder and fresh cream. As soon as you sip the drink you get a nice kick from the chilies. The Ouzotini is made with ouzo, cumin syrup, elderflower syrup, lime juice, mint leaves and garnish with an edible flower. Loved the use of anise and cumin in this drink. A must have! The Apple Beet Thyme is made with fresh apple, apple pie syrup, fresh beetroot juice, lime, thyme and ginger.

We tried their Pumpkin and Kale soup which is a creamy pumpkin soup topped with kale, Goat cheese and toasted pumpkin seeds. The soup was delicious to the palate. Next, we tried the Spanakopita, there are triangular shaped phyllo sheets filled with Spinach and feta cheese. The spinach gave a crunchy texture and the feta just melted in the mouth. The best appetizer was the Greek Style Onion Rings with Greek seasoning. The onion rings were crunchy and delightful specially with the cocktails.

At House of Troy you can try variety of Bruschetta like the Artichokes, bell pepper with goat cheese and walnuts Bruschetta or the Sundried Tomato and Olives Bruschetta. Both have very unique flavors. The Tomatokefthedes is unique to this region made with Crispy tomato bites with herbs and feta cream. Loved the Melitazanes Papoutsakia, it had stuffed eggplant served with garlic dip. The eggplant were grilled to perfection.

For our main course, we tried their Wild Mushroom Risotto and the Exotic veggies with risotto. The Wild Mushroom Risotto was creamy and topped with wild mushrooms, herbs and olive oil. The other dish had Grilled vegetables like capsicum, tomato, zucchini filled with risotto stuffing. The flavors were filled with tomatoes.

The desserts at House of Troy are also inspired by Greek culture. While the Baklava with icecream was crispy, nutty phyllo pastry. The Loukoumades is a deep fried pastry topped with Greek honey.

Overall, House of Troy is a great place to sip drinks while enjoying the Greek ambiance!
