Born in Lewisham in 1936 and raised in Penge, Wyman left the Stones in 1994, after 32 years as their bass player. We could mark his birthday with any number of his classic Stones performances, but have, instead, gone a little off the beaten track with his UK No.14 hit from 1981, Je Suis Un Rock Star
The video is endearingly naff – as all videos from the early 80s seem today. The London locations are, naturally, our meat and drink. But it is the SOUND of London, in Wyman’s flat, Cockney delivery that wins our hearts.
