travel-friendly cushion foundation from Dior

We’re on our way home, and it’s been such a wonderful trip! I have lots more to share, but in the meantime just wanted to give you a heads up about a couple of new products I tried while traveling.

A Firm Foundation…

I often get questions about packing cosmetics and hair products for travel, which can be challenging especially if one is traveling with only carry-on luggage. I’ve been reading about cushion foundations for a couple of years now and even have tried one or two in that time, but the color options in this format can be limited and it’s tricky getting the color right. Right before we left, I’d picked up Dior Capture Totale Dreamskin foundation (#20 for me) to try while traveling. I like that it has some SPF, and that it’s easy to reapply on the go. Downsides: it’s pricey (though the initial purchase includes one refill, and refills can purchased separately) and can be more bulky than a regular compact in your purse. Still, I like the sheer-but-there and buildable coverage and ease of application. For travelers, this won’t count as a liquid for airline security.

Keeping Dry Lips At Bay…

avene lip balm

Somewhere between Rome and Lake Como, I misplaced one small pouch that contained my lip balm. I picked up this one at a farmacia and have been using it for the remainder of the trip. It does not seem to have any discernible fragrance and does a good job keeping my lips moisturized.

On My List To Try…

Audrey Hepburn's favorite fragrance, Aqua di Parma

Our hotel in Rome had Acqua di Parma toiletries, and I loved the fragrance. I kept meaning to stop by a counter to try their cologne, but just didn’t get to it during our stay. When I get home, I’m definitely going to give it a try. (It was reported to be one of Audrey Hepburn’s favorite fragrances.)

Happy Mothers’ Day! Bon weekend!
