Bad girls, good food

When people think of Bad Girl Bakery they usually think of the great cakes they sell. But as well as baking fresh cakes every morning those Bad Girls in Muir of Ord turn out a menu full of meals each day.

We popped in for Sunday breakfast recently. Being Sunday we thought it would be quiet, how wrong we were. The place was buzzing with folk chomping on crunchy toast, breakfast rolls and some really nice looking poached eggs.

We grabbed a table and ordered at the counter. One full breakfast and some of those poached eggs we had seen floating by. Our big pot of tea arrived quickly followed by two great looking breakfast plates.

The poached eggs met every expectation. Two eggs, freshly poached, sitting on a bed of mushrooms and spinach with two generous slices of toasted bread.

Not to be outdone, the full fry up was equally appealing. Three slices of crisply baked bacon, a tasty sausage, slice of very acceptable black pudding and a fried egg. The big mushroom and grilled tomato were properly cooked - a rarity. It was all good, all hot and all freshly cooked.

We had been touring the Highlands for a few days and this was without doubt the best breakfast we had. So next time your in Muir of Ord and feeling a little peckish, remember Bad Girls do more than bake cakes.
