Follow Friday! (2)

Just a fun little meme we’re excited to jump into. One of the best parts about having a book blog is the opportunity to be part of the awesome book blog community. We hope you’ll say hi here and introduce yourself, and leave us a link to your blog so we can come by and visit!

A little about us: Brian Rowe and Shaunta Grimes are both YA authors who love to read. Story Carnivores started as a tiny little YA book club that took on a life of its own. We write book reviews, film reviews, and love to feature author interviews and guest posts.

This week’s question:

What drove you to start book blogging in the first place?

Shaunta: I wanted to do something fun with Brian. We both felt like we needed an online presence, as writers, but neither of us had a great writer blog. We had started a tiny little YA book club, since we both write YA and wanted to stay on top of the genre. Over lunch one day, we just said, let’s do it. I’m reading at least twice as much as normal, and loving every minute of it! Having a movie date with Brian every week is super fun, too. I guess what drove me was the strong desire to just have FUN.

Brian: Yeah, a few months ago I decided I wanted to read more YA fiction, since it was what I was primarily writing. I was lucky to meet and befriend Shaunta over the last few months, who also loves to read as much as I do. She came up with the idea of doing a book blog together, and I was super excited from the get-go. Like Shaunta, I’m reading more fiction now than I have since I was a little kid, and the more I read, I honestly feel the better writer I become. The book blog is so much fun, and best of all, it gives me reasons to hang out with my friend Shaunta!

What about you? If you have a book blog, what’s its origin story?
